We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gg Brewer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gg below.
Gg, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
As a child, I was always a bit of a weirdo. I had a deep fascination with animals, art, and capturing everything around me. My poor brother and a handful of friends probably had no idea what they were in for—entire childhoods immortalized on film because I always had a camera in hand. This was back before smartphones and social media, just me with a small video camera and disposable film cameras, recording every moment.
At 16, I worked for my now father-in-law and told him I wanted to become a tattoo artist. He laughed, suggesting I should probably go to college instead, worried that I might struggle without a more traditional route. Despite his concern, I decided to follow my own path. I went to school and immersed myself in every form of art I could—design, painting, illustration, video, and photography. In the end, I earned degrees in both Photographic Technologies and Illustration.
While working at the Huntsman at a young age, my father-in-law also taught me countless life skills—gardening, saving seeds, cooking, baking, canning, and so many other creative practices. Little did I know, these lessons would become an integral part of my life, shaping my creativity in ways I never anticipated.

Gg, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve always felt that my passions came rather naturally—at least the love for them did. It’s taken a lifetime to learn the skills necessary to pursue these interests, and I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by a community of talented individuals who were willing to share their knowledge with me. I’m still learning, every single day.
As I mentioned in our previous conversation, I owe much of my growth to the incredible people who have mentored me. Photography, in particular, has been a constant presence in my life. From a very young age, I felt a deep need to document the world around me, though I never imagined that it would evolve into a full-time profession. Today, I specialize in a range of photography—from weddings and family sessions to branding shoots and more.
In addition to photography, I work as a pastry chef at a private hunt club, where my colleague Paige and I have been honing our craft for over eighteen years. Together, we create an array of beautiful cakes, desserts, and hundreds of charcuterie platters each year. The artistry and precision involved in that work is something I truly treasure.
My husband and I also take on commissioned paintings whenever possible. He’s a far more gifted painter than I am, but our late nights spent working side by side in our little studio are some of my most cherished moments. It’s a labor of love that allows us both to stretch our creative muscles.
Then, there’s flower farming. My journey into the world of flowers has been deeply influenced by a handful of people who’ve inspired me along the way. My beautiful mother, who grew an abundance of flowers, showed me the magic of nature at an early age—like how ants open peonies. My father-in-law, too, played a key role, teaching me how to sow seeds, water, weed, and nurture a crop. Today, growing flowers is my absolute favorite creative endeavor, and I find immense joy in it.
I know I have a lot on my plate, but I thrive on the diversity of my work. I pour my energy into all of the areas mentioned above, but above all else, I love to create. I love documenting life, making art, and sharing beauty with the world. It’s what keeps me going and what fills me with purpose.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My overarching mission in life is simple: to share beauty and provide comfort. I want my work to make people feel good, to uplift and inspire.
When my clients look at their photographs, I want them to smile, recalling the joy and warmth of a beautiful memory.
When they bite into a birthday cake, I want them to think, “Damn, this cake is moist.”
When they glance at a painting hanging on their wall, I want them to feel a sense of pride—a quiet joy in the beautiful artwork that brings their space to life.
When they take in the scent of a bouquet I’ve grown in my garden, I hope it transports them to a cherished moment, evoking memories of something special and meaningful.
At the heart of everything I do, it’s about creating moments of connection and bringing a little more beauty into the world.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Supporting local creatives is incredibly important. Take the time to search social media for talented individuals in your area, whether you’re looking for a baker, seamstress, photographer, painter, or artisan of any kind. These creatives pour their hearts and souls into their work, and there’s a wealth of talent waiting to be discovered—more than you might realize.
One of the beautiful aspects of social media is its ability to connect you with exactly what you’re looking for. You can truly explore different styles, find what resonates with you, and discover artists who align with your taste and vision. Once you find someone whose work you admire, follow them, engage with their posts, and show your support. In return, these creators will pour that same care and dedication into serving you, ensuring a meaningful experience.
By supporting local creatives, you’re not just investing in their work; you’re fostering a community of artistry and craftsmanship that enriches all of us.
