We recently connected with Gezelle Guillard and have shared our conversation below.
Gezelle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today
If I could start over in regards to real estate, I would connect with my current broker, (714 Realty) where I am given, hands on training, and daily meetings. where we are allowed to express our questions, and concerns instead of thinking it’s not the right question or the right time. When I first started, I was so eager to gather experience, if anyone wanted to see a house, I would schedule it. 0-10 panned out. Or they went to other agents, Causing loss of gas time and money, but now I request potential clients or clients to fill out a buyers or sellers agreement, where, I will give them the upmost due diligence. And it just creates a better work environment. When we are both in agreement to complete this transaction.I request before showing homes that clients have already spoken to a financial institution and have a pre-approval, this way, we are informed of how much the buyer, has to purchase. So we can confidently find a price that would please the client.

Gezelle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
In 2005, I evacuated to Ohio due to hurricane Katrina. At this time, I was not career minded due to the fact that I had two small children to care for singlely. When I did find work, I tried to find something that I could bring my children, I would go on to work at the preschool for five years and after that got a job at a local gas station for another 5 years. In 2018 I embarked on a journey to better myself, the first step I committed myself to the keto diet where I lost over 130 pounds. Once I realize that I could do that I started to challenge myself about 2019 I was currently working at another preschool for minimum wage. Covid had just started and I was afraid of the deadly effects that it had so I left my position at the preschool. Unsure of what I was going to do a applied for a program with our local job and family services. Called the WIOA program. there was funding for programs that were in high demand. At first I try to apply for a nail technician. but it wasn’t something considered in demand. I remember working out watching the news and them explaining how hot the real estate market was. I told myself that’s what I wanna do I have to get in on that so I reached back out and told her I’d like to do real estate. Where I took a simple math test and was excepted into the program. It was a one month course but it took me three months. Due to life being a mother and just maintaining. It took me three months of constantly listening to classes, constantly watching videos on real estate etiquette until March 2020, I studied for two weeks straight, and passed on my first try! I had a sponsoring broker, I felt like I needed a little bit more in-depth training, so I reached out on Facebook, and connected with my current broker, Miss Amber, Carter who is the principal broker for 714 Realty www.714Realty.com I was taking under her wing and shown the ropes. She is a very busy multistate broker. and who I aspire to be one day.! since being with 714 Realty I have sold my first home November 2021, and a notary public, as well as a notary loan signing agent November 2021 life is not so exciting in the real estate world. My colleague Abra offers her home staging expertise to The Brokerage, it’s a pleasure and honor to be working with these ladies

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I got out !!!!!! boots on the ground , I’m from the south, so it’s easy for me to start up a conversation. This is how I obtained my first client. I actually was doing a good deed of the day and purchased her beverage where we began to start talking. I feel being personable and approachable, helped build my reputation. By constantly making myself known, I would visit local police stations, hair salons surgeons, Etc. I believe this helped solidify my reputation with the community.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I posted daily sometimes 3 to 5 times a day, never think it’s too much or you’re bothering someone remember, this is your business your livelihood, I use TikTok and try to use every day circumstances and converted it into real estate. I’m also big on informational marketing, I like to keep up on the marketing trends,so I make a video of what I read. Clients love an informed agent. and you also learned something in the process. When it comes to social media, keep yourself relevant.
