Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gerell Webb. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gerell, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I show/remind people who the f**k they are. I do this by having them do hard things. I truly believe that doing hard things builds confidence. By unlocking the hidden potential within each person, I envision a world where individuals embrace challenges, stand tall in the face of adversity, and become catalysts for transformation and inspiration. My mission is to inspire, motivate and push the masses to get out of their comfort zones and become their best selves. I do this through physical activity and by strengthening the mind as well as the body.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Gerell Webb is a Celebrity Trainer, Fitness entrepreneur and content creator based out of Nashville, TN. He is known for his high energy, huge smile and his kick ass innovative workouts . I hold multiple certifications in Fitness Training, group fitness, nutrition and corporate health coaching. I has been featured on multiple news outlets, most noticeably on NBC, CBS, ESPN, BET and TV One in his recurring role as a health and fitness expert. I is also the guest fitness expert on the Kenny Smoove Morning radio show. Gerell holds ambassadorships with Lululemon and St. Jude Children’s hospital and sits on the Move Music City board. You can catch also me as on air talent with global brands NordicTrack and iFit. Gerell also has his own On Demand Health and fitness community CAUGHT IN THE Webb that provides follow along workouts, nutrition plans and tips on how to live an overall healthier life.
I think the thing that I am most proud of is my ability to pivot from aspiring to become a professional athlete, to finding and using my gifts to increase the quality of other’s lives. I have a very self fulfilling career. I literally get to see minds, bodies and lives transform directly in front of my eyes.
The problem that I solve is I eliminate excuses. “You don’t have time to workout.” I have a platform that provides 20 min follow along workouts that can be done anywhere with no equipment needed. See how I fixed that?! I have a No BS approach to achieving your goals. Either you want it or you don’t. Find a way or Find an excuse. The only criteria that I have for being my client is that you want to get better. What I’ve learned over the years is that everybody doesn’t want it.
I have unknowingly always been into fitness. As a former collegiate athlete I was never the biggest fastest or strongest I was just always willing to outwork you. That was my competitive edge and still is to this day. Preparation breeds confidence. So, I know I know that if I’m prepared then I am going to be really hard to beat. This is my approach in business and fitness. I live by the mantra if you stay ready you don’t have to get ready. Fortune favors the prepared. This also what separates me from others in my industry. That and the fact that I actually care about my clients.. Like for real.
The thing that I want others to know about me is that I will be your biggest fan and your toughest critique. Don’t bring me your goals if you don’t want to be held accountable. My goal for my brand is to have a global impact. I want to inspire as many people as possible to get moving and live a healthier and higher quality of life.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think a large part of how I built my reputation is my personality. Energy is contagious and people are attracted to energy. I believe the other part is that I consistently show up as myself. No matter the place or circumstance. No hidden agendas. When I meet people in person for the first time I often get ” wow you are just like you are online” I think people somehow expect for me to be different. You know the old saying ” it takes years to build a reputation and only a moments to destroy it”. I keep this saying in the back of my mind. Health and fitness and helping others achieve their goals is my life work. I think the thing that has helped me build my reputation is I am always true to myself. The community has watched me and my brand grow over the years and can testify to my skill set. Word of mouth always helps. If you ever trained with me it was hard but inspiring. When I workout with peers they can attest that I really do practice what I preach. I am very conscious of the places that I go, the things that I do and even the things that I post on social media. I’ll be honest, I don’t always get those things right but it helps being married to an HR Expert.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Like most of us the pandemic had a major impact on my business. I think was my biggest pivot. Prior to quarantine I was training 12-14hrs per day. The pandemic gave me time to sit down and reevaluate where I wanted to go in my career and want exactly I wanted to do. I was spending so much time working in my business that I wasn’t able to work on my business. It during this time that I started my Online On demand training website CaughtNtheWebb. Something that I’ve always wanted to do. I committed to really going after my goals of doing more Television appearances and growing my brand to eventually being globally recognized. I also dialed back my in person training clients so that I could focus more on my work outside of the gym. It was a major pivot. Mainly because the majority of my income was coming from in person training.
