We were lucky to catch up with Gerda Mi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gerda, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My Mission to Inspire women feel in their bodies like in a second skin while thye doing the sport activities or water activities, meanwhile it’s sustainably made with local families in Bali and from sustainable materials like Organic cotton or recycled nylon lycra ECONYL.
Gerda, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a human like everyone else, that just very consisten with my work and discipline – lover surfing, boxing ,motocross and now running preparing for half marathon for RIO. Have a small sustainable brand based in Bali, Indonesia, been working all other the world, but producing and creating collections in BALI. creating some new projects, that might will share in near future.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The quality of the product and minimal design.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Yes, from loosing so called – 2 partners or people who wanted to work with me and in the end left me or one of them stole the whole collection and did her own brand. It tought me in business to make boundaries and sign agreements, no matter who you work with. People change especially when there is money involved. Friendships doesn’t exist than you enter work. It took me a while to recover as i felted betrayed and my understanding of friendship – was changed. I needed to rebuild trust with people i work and mostly i started to hire people work for me.
