We recently connected with Gerda Carina and have shared our conversation below.
Gerda, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I’d like to think I’m more of a risk taker than someone who stays in their comfort zone. I always say “yes” first and then see how I’ll be able to achieve the wished outcome.
As a creative all I do is take risks.
I was a successful portrait photographer for over a decade, 15 years and a few months ago I started painting Gold Codes.
I took a risk at starting something completely new, from zero.
I also moved to London from Estonia with a one way ticket when I was 18, without really having the courage to speak english.
I got my foot into the industry and was working with many celebrities, taking pictures, filming, assisting and building my network daily.
I’ve moved around the world for the last 10 years for my work, and every day is out of routine.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was an international Elegant Style portrait photographer for over a decade, writer and mentor. I still continue mentoring other creatives online, so they could shift out from the victim mode and learn how to pull in financial abundance through their art because I know how it feels like to be stuck and without support.
My roots are Estonian, but I was a traveling photographer for the last decade.
My last base was in Monaco.
Photography found its way into my life when I was just 12 years old. I built my
career up in Europe, mostly in London, where I worked with various magazines,
brands, artists, fashion designers and well known creatives.
Some familiar names in my portfolio are Esteban Ocon, Versace, Vogue Arabia, Deepika
Padukone, Liam Payne, Dermot Kennedy, Rita Ora, Brooklyn Beckham, Wallis Day, Little
Dragon, Britain’s Next Top Model, Goodwood Revival and many more.
After graduating high school, I took a leap and flew to London for the first time with one way ticket, where I faced both challenges and incredible opportunities.
London became the backdrop for my growth as an artist, as I worked with unexpected individuals and honed my skills in filmmaking and collaboration with other professionals.
Driven by my adventurous spirit, I traveled the world, immersing myself in diverse cultures and living in different countries. These experiences not only enriched my worldview but also became the wellspring of inspiration for my unique art that I’m doing currently.
After mastering portrait photography, my artistic evolution led me to create “Gold Codes,” powerful and transformative works that activate spaces, bring in balance, harmony, financial abundance, unconditional love, and so much more! Each artwork reflects my understanding of mystical cultures and the profound influence of my lived experiences.
My art is a reflection of my resilience as a creative individual, having overcome numerous obstacles on my artistic journey, but it’s also about elegance and grace that I have learned to embody through the years.
My deep connection to different realms permeates my artwork, infusing it with a profound depth and meaning.
Beyond my artistic skills, I possess a unique ability to tune into others’ internal state and transform energies effortlessly.
My intuitive nature translates onto canvas, allowing my art to resonate deeply with those who experience it.
My artistic expression is a powerful amalgamation of my life’s adventures, diverse cultural encounters, and spiritual insights. Through my art, I continue to share my vision of harmony, joy, and connection with the world, leaving an indelible mark on those who encounter my transformative creations.
My mission is to lead other creatives to success, out from struggle and suffering. I help them navigate between the creative world and the “real” world.
I also continue working with interior designer, galleries, art dealers and other private clients who I create my Gold Godes for, to just be an example and show that everything is possible.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
My dream is to build as many physical platforms all over the world for creatives where they can come together and create in the same space. Why? Because when you paint home alone – you are only in your own energy. If you create with other people in the same space – even if one person is painting in one corner and another person is writing poetry in another corner – the energy field will become fierce and more powerful than creating alone.
The idea is to find investors who are pure givers and agree to invest. The space would be absolutely different from a regular box house.
There would be all elements brought in, sounds, smells, lights etc.
It would be amazing if the society would support the creative industries as much as possible and whenever someone is thinking of hiring a creative – please never bargain over the price. We all have bills to pay.
I remember my most humiliating moment in my career was when someone, after hearing my prices, said: “Wow, your’e so cheap!”
I immediately raised my prices, overnight.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The unknown.
I love creating projects that are making me do things in a new way.
I love exploring.
My projects have to be bigger every time from the last.
I love stretching my limits and seeing how far I can go and how big risks I’m willing to take.
I guess in a way I’m an adrenaline junky.
