Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gerald Campbell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gerald, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
Covid 19 truly affected the Event Production side of our business but it also allowed up to focus on e-commerce and software development.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Gerald “Nova Sound” Campbell. I am of Jamaican descent and am originally from Queens, New York. I am a Published Poet, Producer, and Financial Coach. I am the CEO of Nova Sound which is a technology company with a focus on four areas; music, media, events, and finance. We service several venues, non-profits, and small businesses around South Florida. We provided audio-visual solutions, studio and stage equipment, and courses based on music and media production as well as financial technology. We have been operating for over eight years and have impacted the lives of over 200 at-risk youth through the various non-profits that we work with. Nova Sound has played a key role in producing over 300 events around South Florida. Nova Sound has published 15 musical compilations and EPs and has gained over 50 million views on Giphy.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Nova Sound has been able to build a strong reputation in the market by simply being reliable. As the saying goes “It is hard to find good help.” and there is a lot of truth to that even for us as an employer, however being the help that clients and customers need will give your business an edge in the marketplace. It is also very important that you develop a brand that stands out, when people around South Florida see the upside down headphones, they know it’s Nova Sound. Our customers and clients can contact us at any time, and they know they will get a response within minutes (during business hours) or by 10 am the next day. Under promise and over deliver, go above and beyond, and treat your client’s business or project like it was your business. Give more than you take and you will have long-lasting lucrative business relationships. Be willing to take a small loss or a few steps back to build strong relationships.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for our business has been referrals. Find your niche, provide a great product or excellent service and people will spread the word. Once someone decides that you are their go-to person or their preferred vendor, they will refer people to you who have heard so many good things about your service or product, you will not have to pitch anything because someone a loyal customer has taken care of that for you. At that point, you just need to execute and deliver the quality that they have heard about. Once you deliver, the trend will continue and your clients and customers will continue to refer new clients and customers to your business.
