We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Georgia Concilus a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Georgia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
Being a creative is still a “regular job” in many ways. To be successful you have to treat yourself as a business It’s a privilege and blessing to also be able to include the artistic side of yourself into something that can also be a career.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m an artist releasing that goes by “georgiaxx”. I’ve been making music since I was 14, I begged my parents for singing and guitar lessons. I actually started writing even younger but when I picked up guitar I loved having a way to put chords to the songs I was writing. Originally from Pittsburgh, my vocal training was more on the classical side until moving to New York City in 2016 to attend NYU and the New School. I really started getting into studios in New York and writing with other people. In 2018 I came to LA on a whim and started to build a catalog of new songs that I really resonated with and 2019 I started to release them. It’s been a lot to uncover the industry as an indie artist, but everyday I’m grateful to get to do what I love. I recently released a new single “panic attack” and it played on KISS FM, which was a really cool moment for me.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I think they’re great and have enormous potential to take out the middle man and empower artists. I don’t think we’ve seen a system utilized widely enough to make it applicable yet and given the market it may take a few years. I’ve been in the space since 2020 and am optimistic for the future.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being able to shape the narrative of societal consumption
