We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Georgette Bisteni Adam a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Georgette, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a client that you appreciate them?
I have been blessed with broad experience serving students and clients through my life. As a teacher, the best way you can show appreciation for your students is the passion and preparation you deliver in every single class. Any time you are in front of a group you must deliver the best of yourself and the teachings you are working on. Knowing that creating a space of confidence and trust is the key for sharing and growth. I have been a teacher in several disciplines: dance (jazz), cooking, marketing, business and most recently yoga. I teach regular students and students to become future teachers through our program in Lifetime Fitness of the 200Hr Yoga Teacher Training. The most grateful moment is when you observe the growth and development in your student, not only in the physical part but in the emotional and spiritual. A student notices that the teacher comes prepared and ready to share the love and the practice….so the satisfaction of a student telling you is healing in some area of the body, or becoming more peaceful or having a better life is a unique satisfaction as a human being.
When working with clients, it is amazing too. I am so appreciative of everyone that trust my professional work as a businesswoman. I earnedmy masters from ITESM in Monterrey and through my professional life I have worked witha large variety of clients. I worked as a Director of Continuing Education in the Virtual University, the name in those years givento the digital, virtual operations and educations in the 90’s at Tec serving companies as Cemex, BBVA, Cervecería Cuauhtémoc. We were in charge of the in-house virtual training programs for their employees in different business topics. I had my own high-end clothingboutique in Monterrey (Timboos, Kids & More), so the level of service and innovation delivered to our customers was a priority. For more than 5 years I taught cooking lessons in Monterrey and in San Antonio TX. In Monterrey I became a board member of the most prestigious newspaperfocusing on the cooking section “Buena Mesa” from El Norte.
I have worked internationally at Intralox LLC in New Orleans, who is the largest assembly line conveyor belt manufacturers and servicers in the United States, Mexico to Argentina in the food industry with significant results for the company. In San Antonio, I have been working for more than 5 years as Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos (aka AEM), taking care of the membership and the chapter’s administrative functions, as well as organizing all its regular monthly meetings and presentations.
I recently became a Real Estate Agent in San Antonio for Central Metro. My focus has been to deliver the highest level of service, developing relations of trust where everyone wins. For my real estate clients I am always there for them, available for meetings, questions and finding them numerous quality buyers and sellers so they have a great experience in the process of buying or selling their homes. Their happiness becomes mine too. I utilize all of my many years of experience to deliver the best to them in terms of marketing, service and coordination of their unique process.
Georgette, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
At this time in my life I have three main activities., I am fully dedicated to my yoga life as a teacher and to my Real Estate life serving my customers and working with the many members of Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos.
Each area has its own demands. My greatest challenge is to stay focused in each oneso I can deliver the best of me each one. I do this through being extremely organize,. My competitive advantage is that I am strongly experienced in the fields I work so I can smoothly transition from one to another. I have competencies in administration, and education. I have extensive graphic design and interior design experience which is a blessing. being able to do all the things that bring joy to my life, both students/clients.
After I began to teach yoga and then complete my first 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT), I realized it was the perfect discipline for me at this stage of my life. During the pandemic and while doing my 300 YTT training with Jonny Kest, I decided to become a Real Estate agent and here I am, enjoying the journey and all the relations and experiences that comes with this amazing profession.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
To build up a good reputation, you need to be an honorable person, a person others will trust in all the areas you work. It does not matter how big or small the job is, you always have to be the ultimate professional in all you do. One time a very good teacher of mine told me ” The job does not make the person, the person makes the job”. If you understand this, you will be on the right path to success and a wonderful life.
You always have the choice to do the right thing for your student, your customer, client, yourself. Be authentic, and find that that makes your day a one to remember, everything that you do today will build up in your life!
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Be an example. You want loyalty. Be loyal. You want punctuality, you have to be there on time. You can never ask for something you don’t give to others or deliver. So, to manage people, first you need to be a good human being, be open to identify the talents of your people and bring the best out of them and by managing by your example with trust, growth, respect and professionalism.
