We recently connected with George Gastis and have shared our conversation below.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I spent the majority of my 29 year career as a marketing, branding and technology professional. After selling my digital agency in 2015, I had the opportunity to merge professional experience with a longtime gardening hobby, a passion for local food, and community building to create Grow + Gather and The Feedery at Grow + Gather.
Grow + Gather is an urban farm and marketplace, producing fresh produce and food-centric experiences for the local community. At the center of our concept, is our urban farming operation consisting of a rooftop greenhouse, an indoor hydroponic farm and a seasonal dirt farm just a few blocks from our location in Englewood, CO. Our farm primarily grows food for our restaurant and market, The Feedery. We grow as much food as possible ourselves, and source other products as close to home as possible. In addition, we have a coffee shop featuring local roasters and a multi-room meeting and event space business within our location.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
We opened our doors in December 2019, just a few months before COVID started. We’re still here and employ some of our original hires.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Authenticity. We are fortunate to offer products and services that are of interest to many people, however we are disciplined in letting our personality and motivations show through in how we communicate with our community, both digitally and in-person. We are never “preachy”, we are honest and don’t take ourselves too seriously,
