We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful George Edison. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with George below.
Hi George, thanks for joining us today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. So, we’d appreciate if you could open up about your growth story and the nitty, gritty details that went into scaling up.
I officially began my journey in 2017. After years of creative opportunities, I realized this was the path I wanted to pursue. I wanted to build something I could look back on and be proud of—moments captured in a way that truly reflected my perspective. The idea of freezing time, preserving a single moment that could last a lifetime, always fascinated me. It was never just about the moment itself, but about expressing myself visually. That creative outlet gave me the peace of mind I needed then, and still rely on today.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve always been connected to some form of creativity—whether it was music production, drawing, or graphic design, the signs were always there. Growing up in Los Angeles and being exposed to gang culture, I had to mature early. Fortunately, I had amazing parents who instilled discipline in me from a young age, which helped me make solid decisions. By the time I moved to Texas at 17 to attend Texas Southern University, I was prepared to stand on my own.
One thing about being a creative is the ability to make something out of nothing—to create even in spaces that don’t seem built for it. I consistently surrounded myself with like-minded people who shared whatever passion I was exploring at the time. When I found photography, it immediately felt like the outlet I had been searching for all along. It came naturally then, and it still does today.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to stay grounded while continuing to learn, evolve, and grow with every shoot I take on.

How did you build your audience on social media?
It all started with my friends. Once I got my first camera, I took it everywhere and shot purely for fun—experimenting with lighting, settings, and anything I could practice on. I’m sure I annoyed them at first lol, but it was worth it. When I finally felt confident enough, my first official shoot was with a close friend, and from there everything took off.
I didn’t know all the ins and outs back then, but that first shoot became an important learning experience. I kept photographing friends, and as my work improved, more people started reaching out after seeing those early photos. That momentum led me to create a series called “100 Days in Houston,” which helped me connect with people who had memories tied to the places I captured. That series also opened the door to working with small local businesses.
From that point forward, I decided to take on every opportunity that could help me grow in my career. My advice for anyone starting out: always network, engage with the people who appreciate your work, and make sure you return that support.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I’m always pushing myself to be better than my last shoot—whether I’m in the studio or outdoors, the goal is the same: outperform my previous work. Transparency is essential, and keeping an open line of communication with my clients helps build trust. Above all, quality matters. My clients know they can rely on me to deliver exceptional work, and that consistency is something they truly value.
