Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to George Bladon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, George thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Talk to us about building your team? What was it like? What were some of the key challenges and what was your process like?
When I started my production company “Peyote Pictures” with my friends Jamie Jude and Koutn Hagopian, we were the only employees. Back in 2020 we would film ultra low budget music videos where it would be just us and maybe one extra person. We didn’t have many contacts at the time so we had to reach out to people who we knew were interested in film, but had never worked before. When I first joined community college, I met a lot of inspiring filmmakers. However, I met a handful of very talented directors that I decided to bring into Peyote Pictures. Meanwhile, Jamie Jude made connections with many musicians, and Koutn made tons of connections for crew whilst working on student films. As time has gone by, we are connected to some of the most talented up and coming filmmakers in Los Angeles !

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, my name is George Bladon. I grew up in Tarzana, a small city in the valley of Los Angeles. I loved movie making and acting since I was a kid, and so I’m happy to say I’m still pursuing that dream of making movies as a profession. I always like connecting people with each other, especially friends. Me and my friends loved making little short films with each other and we really wanted to make music videos as an entry way into the industry. We always try to get the best out of the budget, and we try and blend our creative ideas with the artists ideas. We like to shoot our music videos like feature films, and bring a cinematic and high production value to all of our clients. We offer full pre production and production services, and we help storyboard, schedule and execute the vision that you have!

How’d you meet your business partner?
I met Jamie Jude (Co founder of Peyote Pictures and DP) back in Elementary School. We instantly hit it off and we became best friends. In middle school, Jamie moved up to Sacramento and we lost touch. After many years, we reached out to each other over social media and Jamie came down to LA to visit me. We talked about our mutual love for film and making it, and along with my good friend Koutn we created Peyote Pictures. We shot our first video and it was a success. After high school, Jamie visited LA again and we shot our next 3 videos. We decided to move in together and shoot music videos full time. And that’s how we are still going strong !

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Working smart is our biggest advantage as a company. We not only treat our clients with respect, we also respect all of our crew members equally. We don’t like the hierarchy on mainstream film sets that dictate that certain crew should have priority that lower crew positions. We strongly believe in treating all of our employees equally and making a fun working environment. That’s how we have been able to keep our talented collaborators working with us.
