We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Genny Luis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Genny below.
Genny, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
The kindest thing anyone has done for me is being there for me when I was feeling at my lowest. Mental health is very important to me and knowing that there are people out there that genuinely check on you and your well-being is rare.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My full name is Geneveive but I usually go by Genny. I have always been interested in music and photography and wanted to purse something between those two after post secondary. I decided to pursue business management for post secondary studies and earned a diploma. Fast forward to 2020, I was working a logistics job in downtown and attending concerts as my outlet from the stressors. I decided to apply at a nearby university for Music Business studies but the first wave of covid hit and completely shut down all the entertainment industries. I ended up withdrawing that same year and quitting my job in downtown and finding a job closer to home.
That year was very self-reflective time and I focused on expressing my creative outlet through social media by posting on Instagram (Pinayeh9) my photography, video editing and some concert footage.
I was able to network with various artists and do some voluntary media work for some concerts and even do merch.
In doing so, I was able to build my portfolio and gain alot of experience in the industry and have my photography/ videos shown on artists social media pages.
Some of the artists I’ve worked with are Raveena, Slenderbodies, TKay Maizda to name a few.
Using my Instagram page as a sort of digital business card and portfolio has been beneficial in connecting with the artists, promoters and venues.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Always communicate with one another. Even if it’s not good news, communication is key to success.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Over the years I have dealt with my battles with mental health and being so hard on myself. I learned to always keep a positive mindset and outlook. Throughout that diversity I remained strong and resilient to reach my goals.
