We were lucky to catch up with Genna Bowermaster recently and have shared our conversation below.
Genna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Ever since I was young I’ve loved annual trips to the greenhouse with my mother. I was determined to find a way to preserve the beauty of my garden. When the idea of a skull had risen what better way to preserve life inside a symbol that commonly represents death. Being able to include something special like flowers from my garden is what makes my art unique. My love for my garden and nature blossomed into TerraKnotta.
Genna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My clients and followers are a really important part of the creative process. Whether it be a memorial piece to help remember a loved one or something simple like trinkets collected on a first date. Together we are creating a snapshot of a moment or person that has impacted their life. And for those clients just looking for a piece of art to complement their home or a current collection they have, I also have one-of-a-kind pieces available.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Consistency is key when it comes to social media. When you first start you will most likely have low views and that’s okay! Staying consistent will help keep you in the back of people’s minds for whenever it’s time to purchase something. Life is chaotic for a lot of people so reminding them that you’re there when they need you is important.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Meeting people at in-person events has been the best source of new clients for me. Before I honed into what type of market my art fit into I tried multiple different genres. One of the best feelings is when I hear a customer say “I came here just to buy a piece of art from you!” or “I’m here to add to my collection!”
