We recently connected with Geniypher Snow and have shared our conversation below.
Geniypher, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Transcendental Coils was born from my strong need to transcend from what I was doing and also a need to heal from the traumas of the past. After realizing just how disposable I was after putting my heart and soul into a job at a grocery store. I then moved on to farming work where I didn’t get paid in the end and realized that wasn’t going to be a healthy fit either in general, I needed something to do that didn’t require working for someone. Relying on someone wasn’t for me.
I needed to be free. I needed to be able to travel with whatever work I did.
Around the same time I started the farm work, I received a gift. It was a beautiful quartz necklace. I was intrigued and I spent a lot of time studying the details. It was beautiful.
Fast forward a few years, and I made a trade with a friend and received some mini pliers and green floral wire. So I started my first attempt with my new hobby. My first attempts weren’t even close to jewelry. The finished product was a messy clump of wire in one hand, rock in the other.
I had no idea at the time how much I would grow to love this craft. I also had no idea how difficult it was! I spent the next months practicing and experimenting in my spare time.
The more I got the hang of it the more I wanted to spend all my time practicing. I was still doing farm work and house cleaning gigs while practicing my craft.
I learned that you can get free wire from many places and spent a lot of time scavenging wire. Jumper cables and old TVs have awesome wire! It was limited though because I had to work within “what can I make with this wire” but it was also really awesome because I was able to practice with materials that only cost my time to get.
If I could go back and make one suggestion to myself it would be to invest in better materials. When I finally stopped getting my art supplies from road sides and dumpsters, people started saying that I’ve improved so much! Which is likely true, but drastically because of the better wire, with shapes and sizes I could choose from. I opened up a lot of opportunities to have more functional and stable designs.
Fast forward some years, I decided I wanted to give back to my community. Particularly some of the kids that I can relate to the most, the foster children. In Josephine county. I turned to my community and offered to donate my time if they could donate to the cause. It didn’t take long before enough funds were raised to complete the project. With the help of my community, I wire wrapped 200 crystals and put them in cute little gift pouches with a letter from myself, with encouraging words and an invitation to learn the craft from me. My hope is to share an art form that has been a huge part of my healing journey and add some sparkle to an otherwise dark time in their lives.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Geniypher Snow of Transcendental Coils. I’m a mom first and foremost to a beautiful kiddo that has been wire wrapping along side her mama ever since she was a baby! It fills my heart sharing my craft with her and anyone who wants to take the time to try it out! Aside from “mom” one of the nicest things anyone has ever called me is “Dream Weaver”. I had a client so pleased with a request that she called me that and it makes me so happy. I’m also a self-proclaimed metal bender. (Hehe) But most of all I’m a wire wrapper. I enjoy making wearable art that often times are quite sentimental to the wearer. It is such an honor when someone chooses me to make a memorial piece or an engagement ring or some other special one of a long idea that I’ve had the opportunity to create. It truly makes my heart soar when I get to connect with people and hear their stories and I get to weaver and bend whatever love and intentions they’re needing at the time into their piece.
I make pendants, earrings, rings, bracelets, wall art, sun catchers, and more! I’ve even made a tiara! One time I made a memorial for a beloved kitty that was made from tigers eye and meant to sit on a shelf.
When I got into wire wrapping I was looking for a way to support myself and heal. I had no idea how intimate and sentimental jewelry could be. It truly is my passion and my calling to connect with and share in the healing, the transcending.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
The biggest “pivot” in life and career would without a doubt be when I became pregnant. Before becoming a mom a was a free range human traveling around in my van selling my art and making music. It was quite the adjustment transitioning to trying to live in one place. My kiddo is 5 and I’m still struggling with the transition.
I had a lot of self doubt when it came to my art business and being stationary. It was also incredibly difficult to get work done with a tiny person and being a solo parent. So I picked up child care work and barely touched my wires and pliers. When I did pick them up I hardly could create at all. A big part of that was from being in the same place and looking at the same 4 walls, I now know.
In September of 2021 while in between housing I started taking my art business seriously again and I hopefully will never look back. It’s scary, the income varies, but I LOVE it and I love teaching my kiddo to create abundance for herself with her own skills, and to never give up.

Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
Originally Transcontinental Coils was all about transcending from the (I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say this) bullshit.
I’ve had an unconventional and difficult past.
I want and need to create stability and abundance with my own skills while healing.
While being a mom and doing child care I discovered just how much I love sharing this craft with young people.
If I had discovered this while in foster care? Wow! How’s my life could have been different for quite a few years!
My goal is still to create abundance and a home. We still haven’t figured the home part out…
But I’m wanting to be a safe place for children in foster care and anyone else who wants to join in learning this healing craft. My goal has turned into goals, or perhaps it’s all one big goal with a few different chapters. Figuring out how to make crystals for kids a non profit organization is a new goal of mine. And of course I want to keep growing with my craft and creating meaningful pieces of art to share with anyone who would like to receive them.
