We were lucky to catch up with Genevieve Barry recently and have shared our conversation below.

Genevieve, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

The thought of “success” is just another opportunity to do something great. For Tipsy Gypsy, every event is a success to us! We customize each event based upon our clients’ visions and help bring to life an extra layer of WOW. Our Mobile Bar, a.k.a. Esmeralda, is already super impressive and we are so used to her beauty that throughout every event WE are “WOW’d” by the guests who have never witnessed “a bar on wheels”. It’s the guests’ responses to our set-up, service, and execution of fresh, hand-crafted beverages (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) that keeps us on our toes and excited for every single booking. We value success through enjoyment. We handle every aspect of our family business ourselves and are proud and honored to be able to do so. Our kids help us with experimenting with funky (non-alcohoic) drinks – we explore our talents in graphic design – we have FUN while creating names for our beverages – you name it.

We believe our business is successful because we haven’t lost the joy in operating it with excitement, hard-work, attention to EVERY detail, and thoroughness.

We’ve been lucky enough to not receive any negative responses – only “What are you going to do next?!” type of comments.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Tipsy Gypsy Events and Mobile bar is a service-forward company based out of Apex, North Carolina. We strive to provide the highest-quality hand-crafted cocktails and service in the special events industry. We take pride in every event we book and believe that treating each individual client as if they are our ONLY client is essential.

Our mobile bar company services Weddings, Corporate Events, and Private Parties of all kinds. We create each beverage menu collaboratively with our clients to ensure each party vibe is accounted for and executed to our highest standard!

We want our clients/followers/fans to know that THEY are the reason we are in this business. We are truly proud to serve our community in such a fun and funky way for friends and families to come together, again, finally!

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

I will never forget the day we “met” our business partners. They had been regulars of ours at a local restaurant we have worked at since COVID in 2020. They were always so kind, loyal, and warm. One night, we were discussing our dream of owning a Margarita Truck and how we envisioned providing the pool parents of our local communities with treats just as the local ice shaving trucks serve the treats to the kiddos at the pool! We had talked about investments and dreams. “Give me a call on Sunday and we will talk”. So, we called. We talked. We worked together to provide documentation for the legal stuff and the next thing I knew, Esmeralda was home. We have been so grateful for our business partners and still serve them as regulars at the restaurant often. Without their serious drive to help make our dreams come to life, we would not be able to execute our authentically designed events. They were truly a blessing in a moment where life was like, “what’s next?” We do thank God for their dedication to our dreams and visions every day.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Tipsy Gypsy has been known for our unique style and exquisitely built Mobile Bar serving the Raleigh area. After COVID, we took over ownership and branched out into our local communities – Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Cary, North Raleigh, even Hillsborough – just to name a few. We have incredible family and friends who have supported us and promoted us from day one. We built a great reputation with our local restaurant industry friends, regulars at the restaurant we serve, and fellow local business owners through conversation, friendship, and the willingness to lend a hand when in need. We like to impress our guests with our “on-the-whim” cocktails at the restaurant when challenged to create something new. We truly ENJOY every aspect of this business – and we believe it shows.
