Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Genevieve Anderson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Genevieve, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
I have worked in the financial industry for over 12 years and over the years I’ve seen two camps of finance: The very practical vs. the mindset piece. Rarely did I see resources or companies that were addressing both.
It wasn’t until I went through my own personal financial hurdles that I realized how both of these pieces really have to work together for financial success. Coming off an expensive divorce and graduate school, I found myself living paycheck to paycheck with over $30,000 of debt. I was frustrated. Here I was helping millionaires create their financial plans- why couldn’t I apply these concepts to my own life?
Turns out the missing piece was working on my mindset. After getting help to improve my mental and physical health, I was finally able to put into practice the proven methods I used with clients to start building wealth.
Years later when I started financial coaching, I knew I wanted to help the whole client. I’m so grateful that now I’m able to help clients with both the ‘math and mindset of money’ in one Holistic Coaching program.

Genevieve, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi! I’m Genevieve Anderson and I’m a financial wellness & investing coach. I’m based out of New Orleans, LA and live with my partner and 3 dogs!
I use my professional history and personal experiences to help folks coming off of big life events build systems to easily manage their cash flow, improve their money mindset and learn to invest to create a wealthy life they love.
After spending over a decade helping clients in the financial services industry, I made a career switch! After awhile it was clear that I missed working with clients and helping them solve their financial woes. I started helping friends and family with their money and creating financial wellness content- and Holistic Personal Finance took off from there.
I currently coach clients 1:1 and provide financial wellness workshops for other businesses. Both of these activities have become a passion of mine. Watching clients become more confident in managing their money and investing is amazing. This transformation often spills into other areas of their life leading to new career opportunities, better relationships and helping friends and family increase their own financial literacy!
I love showing people how relatively simple and easy moves done today can set them up for future success and a healthy retirement (or early retirement). I also enjoy making cash flow plans for clients and helping them find easy ways to save more money, pay down debt and make the most of their income through intentional spending.
I’ve also been through my own financial rollercoaster! I knew how to manage money for years, but it wasn’t until I was able to work on my mental and physical health that I was able to start taking action to accomplish my own money goals. After using the same skills I used to help millionaires as a Private Banker, I was able to pay off over $35,000 in debt, increase my net worth by $250,000, increase my income by 45% and purchase 2 rental properties in only 6 years!
What I know is that improving your financial situation and feeling confident about your money DOES NOT have to wait! Whether you’re starting for the first time, or starting over- if you’ve worked on yourself, now’s the time to get your money working for you!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Referrals have been an excellent way for me to grow my business and is how I started my business. I would often ask friends and family if they know anyone who would be interested in getting better with their money or is coming off a big event and needed financial guidance. From there, my goal while coaching clients is to always over deliver. That could mean being flexible with meeting times, spending a few extra minutes on a call to explain a particular topic, documenting all call notes and resources and sending a ‘congratulations for finishing the program’ gift!
After clients have completed the 1:1 coaching program, I always ask if they know anyone that would benefit from the program in a similar way. If their referral becomes a client, the referer will receive a financial incentive. Referrals make up about 30% of my new clients and they are some of my favorite clients because their friends have already prepared them for what to expect!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I first started my business, I had personally been off of social media for over 6 years! So, when someone suggested I start an Instagram page for my business I really did not know where to start. 3 years later, I have built an audience of over 12,000 on Instagram and other platforms. If I had to start again, here’s what I would do:
– Find a basic course to help teach you the basics of making content and focus on just one platform
– Find other accounts in your niche and start building connections with them (Turns out the personal finance community on Instagram is awesome)
– Track my posts to see what my audience was responding to, then do more of it!
Social media in my opinion is all about practice, so the more time and energy you put into it and actually being social with others on a platform- the better chances you have to grow!
