We recently connected with Geneva Little and have shared our conversation below.
Geneva, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Growing up I didn’t hear many stories about becoming a artist, creative or even a entrepreneur. When asked, I told my parents I would go to school to become a supreme court judge because I like to tell people what to do. Not knowing that as I got older, becoming a Supreme Court judge was the last thing on my radar. I just knew that I wanted to have a career that made my heart sing. I can still remember the look on my parents face when I told them I was going to cosmetology school instead of finishing my bachelor program at Austin Peay. Becoming a hair stylist exposed me to the endless possibilities of self expression and really made me want to take a deeper dive into mastering and monetizing my creativity. I started my first business creating custom shirts in 2018. Where I mastered the technique of recreating ANY design my clients sent me. The part I always enjoyed the most was taking pictures and videos of my work once it was completed. That’s when I began my content creating journey in 2019.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Geneva but all my friends call me Phae Phae . I own two businesses The Social Mastermind my marketing agency and Phae Creates where I’m also known as the Magical Waistbead Lady. At Phaecreates our passion and mission is to help every woman become their very best self. I create waistbeads with the intention that act as a natural waist trainer to aid women in their weight loss and spiritual journey. My waistbeads are tied around the waist to help gauge your abdomen, they will become tight if you are bloated or loosen as you drop inches from your waist. My waistbeads act as a tool of mindfulness to help women become one with there bodies, daily regimens, and eating habits.
At The Social Mastermind are mission is to help entrepreneurs and small business owners gain the social media presence they deserve. I serve as creative director in executing viral worthy content for businesses to stand out amongst the algorithms that will gain organic exposure. I also teach classes on how to create and edit reels and offer one on one coaching services for any company looking to boost their platform.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
My friends and family are not my target audience. I primarily started marketing my services to family, thinking they would be my biggest supporters. When I should have been marketing based off metrics of people that already shown interest in my services. This was a expensive lesson to learn in the beginning of my journey, causing me to loose so much time, as a entrepreneur time is money. After taking a few business classes and mentorship I learned how to build my growing community of genuine supporters. Their genuine support pushes me to evolve and continue to do the work needed to master my skill set. I highly recommend everyone learns who their target audience is early in your journey.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2021, I was working 10 hour overnight shifts as a newly separated single mother that had lost all zeal for life. I fought daily to be mentally and emotionally present for my son as my job and ending marriage were draining the life out of me. I started making waistbeads as a hobby to aid my mental health I became so passionate about my newly learned skill and how much my waistbeads helped me, that I shared my story with everyone on my social media. That next day I got my first waistbead order from my Facebook post and it was on that day Phae Creates was born. Having the privilege to create for so many women brought me so much joy and literally healed my heart. I regained my zeal, started therapy ,and took back control of my life again becoming a part time entrepreneur. I’ve helped over 500 women to date begin their waistbead journey and my heart is still overjoyed after I tie on each set. No mater how hard life may get never give up on yourself and always have a dream.
