Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Genesis Blount. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Genesis, thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
It is my hope and prayer that when people think of me and my business(es) or entrepreneurial ventures that they will not only be inspired, but that they will see the grit and “sticktuitiveness” — that I never gave up.
Reinvention can be scary for people and can prevent them from moving forward but I’ve found that it takes courage and even more creativity to take what you have/had and make it even bigger or greater.
I’m never afraid to look at what I’ve created or started and say, “There’s more that I can do.”

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I have made it my mission to inspire, motivate, encourage, uplift, empower, and heal people of all ages, backgrounds, gender, races, etc. not just through music (which I love) but with my life.
Unwavering in my faith, but honestly, I don’t have time to pretend that what is isn’t. I do not have it all together. I will not pretend that life and this journey has not been a doozie. But, what I do embrace is the fight in me… it is a literal battle every day to constantly rise above the broken person, I, sometimes, want to be and strive to be the whole person I need to be – for me and those I come in contact with. I said all that to say this: it’s not my job to make people ‘get it,’ only that they see how real God is by way of the paths I traveled!
I am so grateful that my influence has reached church arenas, schools, conferences, social media, etc. and I continue to “press toward the mark.” I don’t have a target audience. I don’t care what age, race, political background, lifestyle, religion, creed — I just aspire to inspire. That’s it. That’s all.
I’m also a serial entrepreneur. The CEO/Founder of The MissUNDERSTOOD Project which provides a rich and rewarding experience for both mentor and protégé to get, give, and grow. Established to promote a culture of support, growth, and development for young ladies, ages 13-21, open communication and dialogue is fostered to provide motivation for success, innovation, and creativity. I also created a virtual safe space for women called, thePINKroom, designed to be a place where every ‘she’ can BE — uninhibited, unrestricted, transparent, and free. It is purposed to speak to every woman holistically.
Aside from creating music that people of all backgrounds and creeds can enjoy, I am also owner of a cosmetic/beauty line called Succor (pronounced Sucker) which aides in the coverage and correction of all skin types.
Hailing from Columbia, SC by way of Atlanta, GA and now residing in the Queen City, Charlotte, NC. When people ask what they should expect next from me, I just say, “Greatness! I am not optimistic. I am not hopeful. I am sure. I am steady. And I know…He that has begun a [great] work in me will perform it.”
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
“Transparency is my currency!” Thanks Roshanda Pratt! :)
Over the years, I’ve learned that staying true to who you are and being authentic through and through resonates with people. People connect and support those that they can identify with.
For a while, I felt that maybe I was too honest…too open…too raw…too forthcoming…but it has allowed me to create the platform and space that I have now via social media to flourish and thrive.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
My dad was my first investor.
I am the daughter of an entrepreneur…before entrepreneurship was cool.
I watched my father work for years as a mechanic and then he took an interest in photography as a side hustle and made that work for him as well.
When I told him I wanted to sing, he said “Ok…what you need?” He funded my studio sessions, the mixing and mastering as well as CD distribution and duplication.
He didn’t get to see me pursue other endeavors but he taught me to aggressively go after my dreams!
