We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Genell Gorman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Genell below.
Genell , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
A defining moment in my career that comes to mind is when I assisted a client who continually found themselves drawn to emotionally unavailable partners, stemming from her childhood marked by the emotional absence with her father. This client approached me with a sincere desire to confront and heal her father wound, aiming to attract a healthy, loving partner. Remarkably, within six months after our sessions were concluded, she found herself in a fulfilling marriage and now is on the the journey of starting a family.
Observing her transformation, coming to me from a state of despair to a rediscovery of self, where she was able to clarify her core values and aspirations, resonated deeply with me. It is a great reminder and truth that our past does not dictate our future. We possess the power to shape our lives according to our true desires and aspirations. This experience reinforces the importance of recognizing our agency as the architects of our own life!!

Genell , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a mother and father wound mentor, certified trauma-informed practitioner, breathwork facilitator, retreat and podcast host.
I specialize in guiding individuals through the journey of healing their father or mother wounds, drawing from my certifications as a trauma-informed practitioner, breathwork facilitator, and my role as a mentor. My own experiences as a daughter, having navigated the profound pain stemming from my father’s battle with addiction and subsequent loss at the tender age of 9, have deeply shaped my approach.
Having personally broken free from the cyclical patterns of suffering that often accompany father wounds, I recognized the transformative potential in helping others do the same. Through my work, I’ve witnessed how these wounds affect every aspect of one’s life, affecting self-esteem, relationship dynamics, and overall perspective on life.
Initially I focused on mentoring those struggling with father wounds, I soon realized the interconnectedness with mother wounds. Consequently, my approach evolved to encompass healing both aspects. Along this journey, I also confronted my own mother wound, recognizing the need for personal healing and growth.
My mission is to guide individuals from all over the world towards a place of authenticity and self-reclamation. I understand the temptation to avoid these wounds, yet recognize that they inevitably manifest in destructive patterns, leaving one feeling hollow within.
I invite you to embark on this transformative journey with me, where we reclaim power, liberation, and freedom through the healing process.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
In the realm of personal development, I hold a firm belief that authenticity and personal embodiment of the teachings are paramount for mentors and leaders. It’s not merely about possessing just the knowledge or professional training; rather, it’s about delving deep into your own journey of healing and growth. Through my own extensive experience in this field, I’ve come to understand the profound importance of having a guide who not only understands your pain but has also experienced similar paths themselves.
For me, mentorship isn’t just about offering guidance; it’s about creating a safe space where individuals can wholeheartedly open up and explore their vulnerabilities. I advocate for mentors who have not only acquired the necessary skills but have also confronted and transcended their OWN life obstacles and continue to do so…. This personal journey of healing serves as a powerful foundation upon which authentic connections and transformative experiences can flourish.
Ultimately, my aim is to be that beacon of hope for others, reminding them that overcoming life’s challenges is not only possible but achievable. It’s about instilling a sense of trust and assurance that they are not alone in their struggles and that a brighter, more fulfilling future awaits them on the other side of their journey.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I attribute much of my reputation in the industry to my openness and authenticity. I don’t shy away from discussing topics that others often avoid, even throughout their lives. I see myself as a truth seeker, firmly believing that genuine connection and healing stem from honesty and vulnerability.
In my work, I tackle subjects that are often laden with shame and guilt head-on. By openly discussing these wounds, I aim to normalize them and demonstrate that healing is not only achievable but also an essential part of the human experience. My commitment to truth and connection serves as a beacon of hope for others, inspiring them to embark on their own journey towards healing and self-discovery.
