Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gene Williams . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gene, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
I established my company, Premier Fitness (TM), in 2007 with my Personal Training certificate with ISSA. In 2009, I continued my fitness education with a Yoga-Pilates Certificate. In 2011, I got my certification as a Nutritional Counselor, and I finally secured my 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training certification with Yoga Alliance in 2019.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My passion for fitness started as a child through playing sports and martial arts. I got really got serious about my personal health and wellness at the age of 20, after one of my family members passed from extenuating health issues at the age of 35,
My specialty is providing a multi-pronged approach to helping my clients reach their fullest potential. The motto for my company is “Stand Out!…Stand Above!!”, because I believe in working smart and hard to reach goals.
I am most proud of helping individuals reach and maintain their fitness goals, and securing corporate clients, like Raymond James, Methodist, LeBonheur, and Shelby County School system. Creating programs that increase productivity and well-being make me feel extremely proud.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Prior to 2018, I was hopping around from gym to gym, yoga studio to yoga studio, trying to find stability in the fitness industry here in the city of Memphis. In February of 2018, I secured my biggest corporate client to date, and I was, eventually, made Co-director of corporate wellness for the Memphis branch of Raymond James.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I could go back, I would definitely choose health and wellness as my profession, because there is nothing like enriching the lives of my clients.
