Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gena Bradshaw . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gena , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
It all started with an intuitive nudge to write a book in one of my lowest moments in life and also when the 2020 lockdown happened. I am a two-time cancer survivor and I decided to take a leap of faith and listen to the calling to write a book about my story. Most would shrug it off, I decided to take action and write, it didn’t start like that though, I had been involved with a nonprofit organization and applied to do a speaking event regarding the holistic approach that helped me on my journey. I was denied. Instead of getting down on myself I took a look at the presentation slides and said to myself “Wait, these are the chapters of my book!” From there I took off, I started writing for my own healing journey and soon realized that this is not only for me but for others suffering and lost like I was. Once my book ” A Survivors Story: A Holistic Healing Journey Through Cancer” was finished and published, I had another strong urge that there was more, unsure though of what that calling would end up looking like. I leaned into it and decided to start releasing things that were no longer aligned with me, like shifting from coaching track and field, podcasting with a former co-host, and our family fitness business to focusing more on holistic health, eastern medicine, and energy medicine. From there it started to come together, my goal was to help people become the healthiest versions of themselves, to thrive no matter what circumstance. From there in February of 2022 Holistic Human Performance was born. My initial business model was solely online programs and coaching but it began to expand based on the feedback I was receiving from clients, readers, and students. This then expanded into virtual and in-person classes, workshops, programs, speaking events, vendor events, 1:1 healings, and holistic products that I make. Now in 2024 I look back at all of the blood sweat and tears and know it was all worth it, the stress, the hard work, it has paid off and it will continue to unfold. The biggest takeaway is to always let your intuition guide you, if you have the gut feeling to do something do it, you only have one life to live and it is your responsibility to yourself to do just that. What I do is truly my soul’s mission and purpose and to see the results of clients, students, and readers now on a global level, I have no words but true gratitude and the resilience to keep going. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart, it requires hard work, resiliency, and the knowing that there is a different way to do things, you are solving a problem for others that you may have once had. It is a spiritual game and the more we lean into that the more successful you will be.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

So that you can have and use these tools in your toolbox so you can take ownership of your health, take your power back, and teach your family and future generations to come. Whether you need one-on-one coaching, group programs, in person classes, the wellness center filled with on-demand videos and courses of meditations, workouts, mobility flow, nutrition talks, holistic living and wellness education, and interviews, it will be a transformative experience to reclaim your health, energy, and life.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I would say networking and doing things that may seem scary, like public speaking, but you know will help you expand your brand awareness and business in the long run. If you’re in this game for the long haul, patience and consistency are key, and this will help you find your soulmate clients and soul community. My initial goal when I started my business because I was shifting from one community (fitness, sports, nutrition) into another community, was to connect with as many people in the holistic health, eastern medicine, and healing space as possible and that is something that I truly accomplished. Now at this point, I have amazing professionals pitching me to come onto my podcast every single day. The more you share about what you do (creating your elevator pitch) in an authentic way the more magnetizing you and your business will be. You must put yourself out there to be seen, pitching yourself, going to networking events, and collaborating with others aligned with your mission.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The biggest piece of advice I have and also what I help my clients do is to be confident in themselves and the soul gifts they have to share with others. This includes marketing yourself and having an online presence, it is extremely helpful to build an online presence for your business. Not only that but to be authentic with it too, not copying anyone else, use someone you aspire to be like as an expander for you but be authentic to you and your brand. Show up online, you think people are judging you and some may but mostly you are just judging yourself. If you need to find a coach or delegate the task and can, then do that so they can help you come out of your shell. When I was shifting from one community to another I also had to shift my presence on social media, I had to change my personal brand and be honest about it. It has paid off 10 fold when I leaned into that and also knowing it takes time to hit critical mass, can it happen overnight sure, but truly it takes time to build and that’s okay!
