Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gemelia Bowdry. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gemelia , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I use to think I had to take risk when I was a teenager in order for my dream to come true. But doing that led me in the wrong places at times even sometimes led me into dangerous situations. After taking the time for growth, and realistically being mindful about my next moves I stopped thinking in the mentality of having to be the struggling artist because that’s what I thought I had to do to become lady Gaga or a Beyoncé. Once I stopped that mentality I soon realized you have to have a plan A or B etc… So I went to college and worked every day while going out at night and did gigs wherever I could , it can be mentally and physically draining at times but it taught me to be patient. Now I’m closer than I’ve ever been with record labels wanting to sign me, I have investors interested and etc just based off me doing research and leaving that mentality behind soon I know with my hustle and ambition I’m going to get to my purpose in life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hi I go by Vira VI. I’m a singer from St.Louis MO I got into the music industry around when I was 15 years old I fell in love with music, I started doing singing covers once I got inspired by other singers on my Social media and my videos they started to gain attention eventually people started contacting about performing and traveling. In my songs I talk about relationships , humanity etc… I’m an open book so there’s not really a genre I can be put in a box in right now but most of my inspiration comes from rnb and pop. What I think sets me apart from others is I’m competitive with myself I’m working on being a better version of me everyday, I don’t compete with others because I want to see everyone around me win at this thing called life. I’m most proud of how far I came, I was really shy growing up I literally barely talked I was something like a mute button on a remote control, but now I’m more opinionated still a bit introverted but now I speak up for what I believe in and I go for things that I wouldn’t think nor fathom and the way I push myself reflects on how I treat others I push other people to be them better selves as well so I’m proud of me just being able to be myself and give of that energy off to other people.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to learn the the world didn’t revolve around me. I use to think it was my way or no way until I got out into the world on my own and realized just that, it’s hard, in the real world people have real problems so I just had to learn to be more empathetic and take a look around me and realize what’s really going on in the world and how I can help instead of taking.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
You want to be on social media , because that’s where the attention is at I would start building content and be consistent with it. Because the internet is overcrowded everyone is trying to get attention so you have to find a way to stand out.
