Alright, GBM thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?

I am very happy as an artist . However, I still get discouraged sometimes through the process but I’ve learned to Trust God , put in work and persevere. I once thought about what would I be doing if music wasn’t apart of my life , but I can’t seem to find myself doing anything outside of music . Music is what I love , it’s my dream , it’s literally all I think about and it’s the only thing I have a strong passion for. I’ve had interest in other things before I took music serious , but since I’ve made that decision, I never looked back and can’t seem to see myself outside of it.

GBM, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Hey friends! I go by the name of GBM GBEATS. The name GBM came to mind while I was at a mission trip in Alaska with my church youth group , which stands for (God breathed music ) . I’ve been in love with music since I was little , it started of with the drums then , I got into producing . I definitely feel like I was born with the gift which I’m extremely thankful for , but also the inspiration I’ve had around me added on to where I’m at right now . I grew up watching people play the drums and I would always sit right in front of the drummers just watching everything . One day while at my grandma church , I was asked to play with no experience and from that day one I taught myself how to play and still play till this present day . That’s one dream that came true , thank God!

I got into producing my 10 grade year of high school , but I didn’t take it serious until my junior year . I’ve learned a lot from my brother Marc who was more experienced than me and taught me the ins and out.

Overtime I fell in love with producing , it became my everyday routine , I would not go a day without making a track . The Road hasn’t been easy , but the mission is greater than the obstacles. My mission is for the Glory of God to be revealed through my music . For people to see/hear and be curious of what’s causing all this , why is he this way and that way I will be able to share about my best friend Jesus Christ with them . I’m not better than nobody and the same way I am experiencing this peace , joy and hope through my journey , I would want somebody to experience the same and get to know my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ . I love music but I love Him more . I’m only able to do what I do because of Him so it’s only right I dedicate it to Him.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn that you can’t let people doubts be your motivation and drive . You have to build that from within , do it for the Glory of God , do it for you , do it for the people you love , do it for the lives you want to change . Don’t do it to prove people wrong that doubted you or just to prove a point , because That’ll have you grinding and working hard with the wrong motives . Spread and show love to your supporters and non supporters. I used to be that person that does all of that , but I thank God for the renewal or my mindset.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

Yes , I watch a lot of Eric Thomas videos and thank you to Clinton K Powell for encouraging me to listen to John Maxwell which have been helping me a lot as well.
