We were lucky to catch up with Gavin Crusoe recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Gavin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

How I came up with the name SDE Images was in high school actually, a homie and I were kicking back talking about our dreams of just being involved in the industry he wanted to do music. I had a passion for photos and video at the time, and we realized we wanted to start a label/ production company under the same name. SlumDogEmpire(SDE) slum because that’s what was around us Dog because we were always the underdogs, hanging with folks older than us tryna gain knowledge on how to make money at young age and have our own legacy. Final empire because we that’s what we wanted to build for our lives, our families, put our friends in position to win. Show folks around us a true blueprint to success in a world that’s not built for us to succeed.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Getting into the industry was a lot harder than most people realize, I went months just dming Artist, Producers, Managers, Etc. about trying to do work for exposure. It took few people to give me a shot and help me build my platform, from Producers like Big Papito, Aonah, to Artist like Seddy Hendrix, S.U.R.F., and Z6Saint. Platforms like Trshmag, 4 Shooters Only, and One More Time Podcast. Theses people and many more helped me shape me and put me in position I need to succeed.

How did you build your audience on social media?

Building my audience wasn’t easy but it came from word to mouth, as well surrounding myself around like minded people in my field. Taking my craft seriously as well just taking how I shoot photos and make it into a new wave/ art form that most folks can’t recreate but also grabs attention of the audience.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

A goal yes I wanna be a legend in this industry and make my mark on the world with my art. I wanna gain the respect of the people I’ve looked up to for years. I wanna see my photos on Billboards but also start my own production company as inspired. Give folks the same chances I was given, build a safe haven for shooters, creators, and independent artist trying to make content in a false reality. Inspire those around me to push for more and know that they can follow them simple idea of knowing I’m good at this one thing, how man I take this one thing that makes me happy and give it a platform that is authentically me.
