We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gavilán De Oro. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gavilán below.
Alright, Gavilán thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I learned to perform my craft properly by staying 100% consistent, dedicated, & by not taking shortcuts. There’s no such things as cutting corners when it comes to reaching the ultimate goal. That is why it takes much longer to fabricate a Ferrari than it does to make a Honda. There are multiple roadblocks and many distractions that will attempt to discourage and stop you from achieving your goals. The best way to win against all odds is by staying focused on completing the progress by using those roadblocks as leverage to keep moving forward. If you can imagine it you can also execute it.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
This is what I’ve aspired to become ever since I was a child. Many laughed, mocked, and tried to discourage me from becoming who I am today but, I always stayed consistent on starting the journey through sacrifice, hard-work, & discipline. Late nights & early mornings. I was so determined sometimes I’d go days without eating &/or sleeping. Excuses do not exist on my mind. Through the sacrifice change of lifestyle was inevitable therefore I fell inlove with the journey rather than cashing in on the glory. I always remember my origins & how difficult it was to create opportunities for myself, which keeps me humble. I live a double life one as the Luchador I became and another as a low-key gentleman & both lifestyles are completely different and none ever cross paths. I can definitely say that I am a very blessed individual with & without the mask. Every now & then I have future wrestlers ask me for advice on what they should & should not do to get to where they need to be & it truly opens my eyes because I when I speak to these young lads I feel like I’m speaking to myself a few years back. I strongly recommend to anyone out there trying to achieve whatever it is that they want to do, to stay away from people that have nothing positive to say, stay away from alcohol (protect your liver) , don’t smoke (breath air), workout, & don’t follow the masses. Just because everyone is doing something or believing nonsense doesn’t mean it’s right. Find your true Identity, don’t worry about negative opinions that will never be facts, don’t compete with others as it is you vs you, & enjoy the journey because the rewards will eventually fall into place.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Years from now after my journey on this earth has been completed, I want every underdog out there to look back at me & say “He didn’t quit therefore I won’t either”. There are no dreams that are too big nor ridiculous for anyone to accomplish. I want everyone to become the best versions of themselves & to continue to inspire future generations of their respective professions in not only achieving their goals but to also innovate unique ideas that will reboot their industry in a positive manner.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
After completing a few years of training, I saw others that started at the same time as I did already performing some even having big matches & there was me still not being able to perform. Some individuals asked me not to call myself a wrestler as I had not yet earned that title. It was very discouraging & the thought of doubting myself was approaching. Then I also remembered that microwaved food doesn’t taste as good nor has the amount of nutrients as a smoked steak did. Therefore when my lucha libre professor Super Natural instructed me to finally perform, the rest was history. I now out perform those who took shortcuts, every single one of my matches gets the crowd excited, never been in a quiet match, I always make sure I perform at a high level, & fans seem to appreciate my work by either booing or cheering for me. Moral of the story is I saw many cashing in on the glory too soon that unfortunately their passion faded away. Thank God that didn’t happen to me.
