Today we’d like to introduce you to Gautier Abadie.
Hi Gautier, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Originally from France, I began my career with scoring short films, feature films and documentaries that received numerous awards. After pursuing film scoring studies at The Juilliard School, I obtained a Bachelor of Music in Musicology at the Toulouse University and Master of Fine Arts in Music Composition at the Vermont College Of Fine Arts.
Now established in New York, I have co-composed for such shows as Miraculous Ladybug, Power Rangers and Ghost Force. My extensive experience in film scoring gave me the opportunity to work with awarded-directors and to produce singers for Britain’s Got Talent. My credits also include original scores for several video-games. My music has been played in numerous venues and festivals such as Sundance Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Festival, Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival and the Royal Albert Hall.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Coming from a rural part of France and arriving to New York was highly disturbing but extremely exciting. Not coming from money, I struggled to establish myself in this amazing city. From student loans to immigration and cultural shock, New York definitely shook me!
I had the chance to meet incredible people who over the years turned out to become my best friends and collaborators. Not an easy start but no regrets!
