We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gatekeeper a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Gatekeeper, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I had to have been 4 or alittle younger. I was old enough to pay attention to the TV and pro wrestling really caught my attention at a young age. There was “Hitman” Bret Hart and Stone Cold Steve Austin and I was immediately sucked into the television. It was always a dream of mine to become a professional wrestler, though I got started later in life but I believe it was all in good timing. Here we are. It’s incredible.
Gatekeeper, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My Homebase is called United Wrestling Entertainment out of central Louisiana where I got my start. I had some difficulties along the way but with great training mates and a coach I got through them. I’ve been in professional wrestling since May 3, 2021. It’s been a wildj ourney. I’ve met so many legends along the way and some I even befriended. I’ve survived cancer twice and was still taking chemo during training. I just wasn’t staying down and I wanted it too much. Wrestling has helped me in many ways.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As I said earlier I’ve survived cancer twice and during the time of my training I developed severe neuropathy in my legs, knees and feet. My coach got me hooked up with a gym and had me work out with him every day mostly to work on getting my legs back under me which I was back training 3 months later then 3 months after that I was back to wrestling but this time while wearing braces. Now I’m 100% and am not wearing them and wrestling everywhere.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
To give my son someone to look up to and to just be the best I can be in this business I love so much.
