Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gaston Quieto. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gaston, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
My Grandfather was a magician, so that a First inspired me to become a Magician… But when i realized that i couldn’t have real powers as a young boy i felt disappointed with the art Magic for some time. but then i started to find a personal satisfaction on fooling professional Magicians…Yes! i found that very pleasing, to fool magicians with sleight of hand and psychological subtleties somehow brought that passion for Magic again. So i was reading & investigating all i could just to fool them & that brought a lot of attention in the magic world scene. then i released a Vhs a that time Called TWENTY with most of my original techniques & routines. That brought a lot of international Attention to my Magic… So I started traveling the world at a very young age, doing lectures & shows for Magic Clubs & Magic conventions… But Now i do Corporate Gigs & Cruise Ships shows mostly. I had great Luck through the Years and performed for many celebrities & Prominent Personalities from Politics & showbiz Like Nelson Mandela, Tiger woods, Richard Branson, Bill Clinton, Nicolas Cage & many other Hollywood celebs
For my corporate clients I create anything they need related to their brand. I Can Make their products appear or disappear at Launch or Magically morph Them from any other object… I became an expert on Car Launches, Making Cars appear for more than a 100 different events for different brands, Big Ones…Bmw, Mercedes, Lamborghini, among many others
Now I enjoy my Cruise ship work very much now because I get to travel the world & perform for all kinds of audiences in many languages… And the theaters are always full. Only in 2023 I Have performed for Princess, Halland America, Norwegian celebrity cruises in many of their Vessels… So I can’t complain.
Gaston, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an Illusionist – Sleight of hand performer Touring the world with my shows. Now Mostly performing on Cruise ships and corporate Launches when I’m not at Sea. Lived for 20 years abroad…Mexico, Japan, Vegas & Dubai was my last home. Came back to my Hometown in Buenos Aires just Before the Pandemic and that’s where I live now
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Well as an Artist on the road there are always highs & Lows…Family wise you are not always there, so that is a difficult thing to handle sometimes, but nothing is ever perfect…Also Magic requires a lot of practice, and that’s a must! Practice, practice, practice… and then practice some more!! So when I’m home I still have to be connected to the craft… So I will try to do it the best I can! During the Pandemic i had many complications, as I’m a live performer & had to reinvent myself performing Online, writing, developing new ideas, routines & tried to do whatever i could to get afloat… But that helped me a lot with what I’m doing today & changed my mind completely, I never give up! Law of attraction never fails.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me it is a privilege to do what I love! Since I was a little kid I dreamed about doing what I’m doing today, I will never forget that… I can Honestly say that I have fulfilled all my dreams & I’m the happiest & Thankful person around… But I try to get better & better every time, I never stop learning & finding new ways… for me it never feels like a day at work, but to get that ready is a hard road that I truly enjoy! Now I’m working on something impossible, but tomorrow might be a brighter day & solve that puzzle! greetings from a coffee shop in Brugge, Belgium… Thats where Magic brought me today
