We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gary Hults a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Gary, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
My legacy as a relationship and confidence coach will be one of empowerment, authenticity, and transformative impact. Here’s how I see it:
My legacy will be that of a coach who helped people break free from their limiting beliefs and step into the lives they truly desired. Through my guidance and unwavering support, I have enabled my clients to tap into their inner strength, overcome obstacles, and cultivate the confidence to live on their own terms.
As a role model for my daughter, my legacy will be one of honesty, self-awareness, and integrity. By teaching her to be truthful with herself and others, I am instilling values that will serve her well throughout her life. She will grow up seeing the power of authenticity and the importance of aligning one’s actions with one’s beliefs.
Overall, my legacy will hopefully be that of a transformative force, someone who not only coached others to greatness but also embodied the principles that I have taught. I will hopefully be remembered as a beacon of hope, a catalyst for positive change, and a living example of the profound impact that can be achieved when we have the courage to show up as our best selves.
The people whose lives I have touched will carry forward the lessons I have imparted, paying it forward and creating a ripple effect of empowerment and self-actualization. It is my hope that my daughter will grow to be a strong, honest, and self-assured individual, inspired by my unwavering commitment to personal growth and authentic living.
This is the legacy that I am building, one that will continue to resonate and inspire long after I have completed my earthly journey.
Gary, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
After a my divorce, I found myself at the crossroads. Rather than succumbing to the darkness, I made the conscious decision to overcome the challenges I faced, realizing that I had the power within to transform my life. This pivotal moment inspired me to become a life coach, determined to help others discover their own resilience and inner strength.
My journey into the world of life coaching began with the creation of a unique deck of cards, each featuring a common core value. I called these cards “Oak Values” By using these cards to first uncover my own values, I found a powerful tool to guide my clients towards self-discovery. Now, at the helm of Northman Coaching, I employ this innovative approach to help my clients navigate the complexities of life, relationships, and personal growth.
Northman Coaching offers a multifaceted approach to empowerment, providing group coaching, one-on-one sessions, and specialized classes on topics like fatherhood and marriage. I also host a podcast called Living By Oak Values with my friend and business partner. The commitment to my clients extends far beyond the confines of my coaching practice. As a full-time postal worker, I have leveraged a platform as the “superior mailman” to reach people through social media, sharing daily motivational stories and inspirational quotes that touch the lives of many.
While I take immense pride in the transformative moments I witnesses in my clients, I am perhaps most proud of the way I shows up for my daughter. An avid fitness enthusiast who enjoys surfing, hiking, and cooking, My true passion lies in empowering others and being a present, engaged father.
As you delve into my story, you’ll discover that I am a life coach who embodies resilience, authenticity, and a deep-rooted desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those around me. From the darkest moments to the empowering realizations, my journey is a testament to the power of self-discovery and the transformative potential of the human spirit.
How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my business partner Robert Burton while on a men’s retreat in Asheville North Carolina. Before we actually met in person we were part of a fitness group that one of our colleagues had started. We had become good friends, and a year later after another men’s retreat in Puerto Vallarta Mexico we had decided to go into business together, and the rest is history.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Northman Coaching and The way of the Superior Mailman and the Living by Oak Values are all technically still side hustles. I believe that I am on the verge of having these projects becoming my full time career. I managed to get these projects to where they are by being consistent, advertising and word of mouth. The podcast airs weekly, the Superior Mailman posts are daily on all platforms. And the coaching happens when I am not delivering the mail. I would say some the key milestones were when we filled our class on fatherhood and the feedback was positive across the board. Another milestone is when we went from 10 subscribers on YouTube to over 60 along with a nice jump in followers on other platforms.
