We recently connected with Garrett Brown and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Garrett, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?

I often tell people “It’s not about what you go through but it’s how you go about it.” Simply because it all starts with your mindset. Of course other things factor into it such as a willingness to adapt, being a student of learning and setting goals for yourself. But again without a strong mindset/attitude you’ll hinder yourself from what you want to accomplish. I can testify to that. My biggest challenge was my last semester in college in 2019. Shoutout to Georgia State!

I had seven classes left to pass before graduation which was a lot from a mental standpoint. I didn’t want to graduate in my 5th year. I stayed up countless nights studying for exams and team projects; I didn’t really have much of a social life. It was the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced but I stuck with it. I sustained a focused mindset to make sure I passed all of my classes and did exactly that. Whatever mission you’re looking to achieve, your way of thinking and having a positive outlook is what comes first in line. It’s easy to give up when it’s gets difficult but overcoming each obstacle you may come across is how you become more self-sufficient and prepared for what’s next.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

My name is Garrett Brown. I’m an on-air host of my self-created show: The GB3 Show. I’ve been in this industry going on 5 years now. During my time in college there were multiple paths I had expressed of interest but radio was the one that stood out to me because you can be yourself on-air, discussing topics that you enjoy covering while people listen and it’s something I’ve found with great pleasure.

What separates me from others is carrying myself at a high standard. People are always watching you no matter what you say or do. That’s what my upbringing was as a kid but as I’ve gotten older and learning from people with more prestige, making yourself a high character individual is essential; especially when you seek longevity  through life. Same goes for the kind of people you surround yourself with; those who will constantly tell you the truth when it’s necessary for you to listen and acknowledge. When you make those quality decisions that’ll benefit you in the long run the reward behind it will last forever.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?

Managing a team altogether isn’t a light task. Through my personal experience, your peers look at you to steer them in to the right direction. Each personnel has their own goals and expectations. As a team leader you do what’s best for everybody to succeed; including yourself.

Maintaining a high team morale determines how much you invest in your team and having discernment. However, I’ve learned a hard lesson that you can’t make everyone happy. You will struggle and fail multiple times; even leaders go through. Obviously people would rather be in a workplace where they can elevate, feel valued and have self-motivation. Courage and sacrifice are qualities of a leader. When it’s all said and done, doing what’s in the team’s best interest matters the most. Everything else will take care of itself.

NFT’s are big now. Particularly in the marketing & entertainment world. I’m not NFT savvy but seeing how much technology & graphic design as a whole has grown and optimistic on what’s next to come. I’ve personally thought about doing some sort of project or involvement in NFT creations but still learning all aspects of it. Certainly more people are investing in it too but the knowledge and benefits you can gain could lead to more open doors.
