Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gardenia Zuniga-Haro. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Gardenia, thanks for joining us today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
I feel comfortable asking my family to support my business by contributing to social media engagement and if there are opportunities, they can attend like artist shows.
My mother has been a big supporter by attending local shows in her area when the band comes to town and also helping pass out flyers of the band.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the Entertaiment industry after my sister Gabys passing. Both Gaby and I always dreamed of having our own PR agency and work together and make a difference in the Black and Brown community by representing minorities that other agencies did value. We Value everyone. Grieving my sister brought motivation to make things happen in honor of her and our community and out of love my company was born in 2017.
Initially the company was named Social Flower Productions but with the guidance of my mentor Cristina Trujillo, CEO of Reem Media and evaluating my brand, in 2021 my company was transformed to Gardenia Zuniga & Associates.
As a publicist and talent manager I provider opportunities with press, show bookings, and influencer collaborations for clients. I have seen a tremendous growth with a few of my clients as musical artist where now they are getting media recognition with value of who they are and what they represent with their talents.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I learned to build my audience on social media by supporting other businesses and artist and show the same gratitude. It doesn’t take much to share someone else’s business announcement, accomplishment, or comment on their post. Supporting each other in the community is how we build our audience and respect.
If we repost celebrities’ new makeup brands, then why aren’t we sharing the same energy for our community? It doesn’t take much to show support.
My advice to those starting is to start showing support to other businesses in your community with social media and acknowledge them as you would like to be acknowledged.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I am a firm believer in having INTEGRITY as a person. I have dealt with past clients who did not share the same value and unfortunately, I had to cut ties with them, and their values do not match mine as a business owner and agency.
Having transparency with your team is a must in any business. Sometimes we have to have those uncomfortable conversations to grow together but also find a balance on how we can become better as a team. Not everyone is fit to work with you however my work as a publicist has helped those be on the spotlight with their talents and if it wasn’t for me, they wouldn’t be where there are now.
I believe that reputation is everything in this industry. I am thankful that I have a solid foundation of integrity with Entertaiment partners, community advocates, and clients.
