Hi Garbralle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Educate Empower Lead, LLC provides customized services including training, coaching, and workshops for professional growth and development. Our services are tailored to suit the needs of each individual and organization, unlocking hidden potential and guiding clients towards success. Our name behind the company comes from the foundation of empowering, and planting seeds. We must first educate, which will empower, then others can lead. We strive on the model each one, teach one.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Garbralle Conroe I was born and raised in Southwest Fresno, obtained a bachelor’s degree in criminology and master’s degree in counseling and Rehabilitation. I have 10 plus years as an educator teaching graduate courses. I started my consulting business Educate Empower Lead, LLC, in 2017. I am a mental health advocate, a firm believer of self-care, and in my spare time I enjoy traveling with my husband.
I initially started my business as a passion for inspiring and empowering others. My business quickly grew to fill the need of providing professional trainings, motivational speaking and workshop services to organizations.
I am blessed and most proud of being able to give back to those in needs. I was born and raised in a lower social economic community, where resources and opportunities were limited. I made a promise to myself early on in my career that if I ever got to a certain level of success, I would give back to others. My business has been able to give back to disadvantage students through my literacy program which encourages middle school students to read and write. Each year students are given an essay assignment centered around an act of kindness or making positive choices. Upon completion 3 winners are selected, and they receive gift cards, certificate, and school supplies. We were also able to raffle off a brand-new pair of beats by Dre, and pair of Yeezy shoes. Giving has always been the foundation of my business, and I will continue to make it my mission.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I have always worked in corporate America, traditional 9 to 5 jobs. I learned and developed my work ethic from working in those jobs, so I know what it takes to be disciplined and structured. It’s one thing to start a business, but to maintain one and grow can be challenging. I have developed the mindset of taking risks, and not being afraid of the outcome. When starting my business, I had to always keep that in the back of my mind when it came to funding. I didn’t take out a loan from the bank or receive any grant funding to get my business established. Instead, I used personal savings account to purchase the items that I needed, as well as secure an office space. My mentality was if this doesn’t work out, I can always go back to corporate America, but if this does work out then corporate American can come to me.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My strategy has always been to meet clients where they are at, and not where I think they should be or where I want them to be. I strive to provide my client’s with not only great service, and a great experience. But I include them in the process of empowering and motivating them to reach their full potential. Being authentic, and putting the client’s needs ahead will always take priority.
