We recently connected with Galit Ventura-Rozen and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Galit, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear your thoughts about family businesses.
As someone that has 3 brothers, a father and a son that I have worked with and continue to work with my thought is “When it works, it works”. I started working with my father when I was 18 , working in his office at the front desk. I learned so much watching and listening to meetings and the way he ran his business. This struck in me the desire to be an entrepreneur myself. Over the years we have had much practice separating business and family. That is truly the key, Friday dinners do not include spending the night talking about what we spoke about at the office earlier that day. If you asked what the key to success in family businesses is, I would respond with RESPECT of each others job roles. No one works for the other, we each work for ourselves, we each have multiple businesses and projects and when we work together on the family business, we make sure to not step on each others toes and stay in our lane. We communicate and listen as well as respond with respect. Money is typically a challenging topic, so whenever money is involved we discuss and write down anything to do with money so there is no confusion. For myself , to watch 3 generations work together successfully ( My father, myself and my son) is truly a dream come true.
Galit, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a globally recognized public speaker and award-winning entrepreneur, I understand that to be a person of influence is meaningless – unless the recognition is used as a means of helping others. As a commercial real estate broker, I own and operate Commercial Professionals, where I have sold over $700 million in commercial property in Las Vegas over the past 25+ years. After enjoying a very lucrative career as a real estate expert, I began to experience sleepless nights with racing thoughts. As a then working mother of three, I wanted to help women, and so returned to college at the age of 38. In 2016, I earned a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University and graduated with honors.
From there, I began a one-woman mission to empower, inspire and motivate others to believe in themselves. Whether by using lessons from my book, The Successful Woman’s Mindset, offering innovative strategies for HR as a corporate trainer, or raising the productivity of others as an executive coach – my passion and energy are almost palpable. What sets me shoulders above the rest is my unwavering belief in others, and my insistence that the possibilities at success are limitless when we get out of our own way.
My success did not go unnoticed – I has received many awards and am globally known and respected for my work with charities and non-profits. I most recently received TMG Entertainment Silver State Award for Entrepreneur of the Year, National Association of Women Business Owners – Woman of Distinction Award for Professional Services, was named Infinity Business Magazine’s Top 5 Female Professionals You Should Know, Real Vegas Magazine Top 100 Women, the TMG Entertainment Silver State Award for Best of the Best Local Motivational Speaker/Coach, Hero of Change from Amare’ Magazine and Nevada Woman’s Chamber of Commerce honoree for the Athena Award in Leadership.
I have graced the covers of Magazines; Top 100 Real Estate Agent, Women in Biz UK, Exeleon, Las Vegas Woman Magazine and more.
I have also been inducted into the Nevada Women’s Chamber of Commerce Leadership Hall of Fame, and was named an Unsung Hero by Las Vegas Sun. I volunteer my time and plan multiple events for the women and children of The Shade Tree Woman’s shelter every year.
As a sought-after internationally recognized public speaker, I have appeared on ABC, NBC and Fox as an expert on mindset, leadership, and business. I bring my significant talents to corporations to train employees recently promoted from within on leadership, effective communication, and the importance of cultivating a successful mindset. I created Empowering University which offers corporate training, workshops, retreats and professional speaking, and The Speakers Method which shows entrepreneurs how to use their area of expertise to promote their business and/or become professional paid speakers.
I am a past president of Commercial Real Estate Women, Women of Global Change – Las Vegas, and a board member of Brave and Beautiful. Plus, a current member of the board for Commercial Real Estate Women Las Vegas.
I work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of others, both in my community and throughout the world. The lifelong entrepreneur’s message is a simple and straightforward one – armed with the right tools and mindset, the possibilities are limitless.
I started a new business, Everyday Woman, with my business partner Angela Giles in 2020 during the beginning of the pandemic.
We saw within just a few days those women were scrambling to figure out how to go online with their business or pivot their current online business to make money.
Everyday Woman was born to support women who needed support right away. They started a Facebook group and have added hundreds of free videos sharing with women how to be more visible and get more clients through social media, becoming authors, marketing, branding, networking and more. This community has grown to over 14,000 women and continues to grow each day.
Today we have Everyday Woman TV which gives women a place to have their own show on 19 online platforms.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I have been online for a little over 5 years, if you google my name you will see over 10 pages of content. How? By being genuine, authentic and consistent. The best advice I can give someone to build their social media is to start with one platform first, become the Queen of that platform and then move on and do the same with another. Make sure to pick the platform that your clients are on. I also suggest blocking time out to work on your social media content and creating a batch of videos, graphics and/or posts and scheduling them to be posted every single day at least once.
Then it is important to engage with your audience, respond to their comments, ask questions, and like their posts as well. Social media growth takes time but is possible when you follow these simple steps. Lastly, make sure your profiles match and are not confusing your audience.
Any advice for managing a team?
My advice would be to treat each personal as an individual, Be aware and learn what each person on your team needs to thrive. Learn their strengths and embrace those, learn their weaknesses and delegate those out to other team members that those are their strengths. Also, have an open door policy. Let each team member know you are there to listen and not judge, that you are open to bettering the organization and their ideas. I also suggest team building exercises, to make sure your team members get a long and work together. Lastly, make sure you are checking in with them often, asking how they are doing, if they need any help or support and if they still love what they do. When you treat team members as people and show them you care about them. Teams succeed, companies profit, and individuals are happy and stay.
