As we look ahead to 2025, texture takes center stage in high-end interior design, redefining luxury through the tactile and the layered. This year, the trend moves beyond the expected, embracing a symphony of materials—think brushed velvets juxtaposed with raw, organic linens or sculptural ceramics paired with a sumptuous boucle. These thoughtful contrasts create depth and dimension, inviting an immersive sensory experience within the home. The focus is on craftsmanship and authenticity, with handcrafted surfaces, intricate weaves, and stone finishes elevating each space into a curated work of art. Texture becomes the new narrative, transforming rooms into havens of warmth, sophistication, and understated elegance.

Hello! I’m Galey Grimes, Principal Designer and Owner of Galey Grimes Interiors (GGI), a full-service luxury design firm specializing in custom home builds, renovations, and home furnishings refinement.
Let me share a little about how I got to where I am today as a designer and small business owner.
My passion for interiors began in childhood. Every year, I’d join my parents on the annual neighborhood home tour in Midtown Memphis. My father, who served as the president of our neighborhood association, had me volunteer for the event, and that experience remains one of my most vivid memories. It was in those moments that I discovered my love for design.
Fast-forward to August 2023: I received the invaluable encouragement of a mentor and dear friend to start my own design firm, separate from hers. Though the idea of venturing out on my own was both thrilling and daunting, her support gave me the confidence I needed to take the leap.
With my business license in hand, the opportunity came to collaborate with Chris Dickens of DickensBuilt, a highly respected builder, on a home for the 2024 Vesta Home Show. As a newly independent designer, this was a dream come true—and a chance I knew I couldn’t let pass.
Today, I am filled with gratitude for everyone who has supported me along the way, and I am deeply thankful for my clients who have made this journey possible. Their trust and my love of interiors continue to drive me toward turning my dream into a reality every day.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?

At Galey Grimes Interiors, maintaining a close relationship with clients and fostering brand loyalty is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that luxury is not just about exquisite design; it’s about creating lasting connections and a personalized experience. From the very first consultation to the final installation, we prioritize open communication, ensuring our clients feel heard, valued, and part of the design process every step of the way.
We stay in touch through a variety of touchpoints, including regular check-ins during the design process, personalized updates, and curated design previews that allow our clients to feel involved in every decision. After the project is completed, we continue to foster our relationships with follow-up visits, offering guidance on maintaining their space and advising on future design needs. Our commitment to ongoing support ensures that every client feels like a lifelong partner, not just a one-time project.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

Word of mouth has been our most cherished source of new clients. We believe that exceptional design speaks for itself, and the trust and satisfaction of our clients are the greatest compliments we can receive. Each project is treated with the utmost care and attention, ensuring that every detail exceeds expectations.
