We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gal Yefet a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Gal thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
I was working at a gym and had just finished my TRX Group Fitness certification. A week later, the gym’s best instructor got sick and needed a sub. I spent 60 minutes learning how to run her class. A friend gave me a CD for music, and it went great.
When the instructor heard how well I did—even without seeing me in person—she referred me to one of her clients. That’s how I got my first client.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m originally from Israel, and my journey into fitness and coaching began through personal struggle. After years of trying to recover from injuries and being handed cookie-cutter programs that didn’t work, I finally decided to take control and rebuild my body on my own terms. That experience taught me not only how to train smarter, but how to truly listen to my body—and eventually, how to help others do the same.
My background in track and field, yoga, martial arts, military training, and skateboarding gave me a wide lens on what real, functional training looks like. It also taught me the importance of purpose, safety, and learning how to train beyond the limits of your mindset—not just your muscles.
I’ve also lived, worked, and traveled across the globe—from Israel to South America, through 16 countries in Europe, and across both the East and West Coasts of the United States. That exposure to so many cultures and lifestyles shaped how I see people, pain, and performance. It taught me how different our environments are—and how universal the need for movement, connection, and recovery really is.
Today, I use those lessons to coach people in a way that blends movement with mindset. I lead customized sessions that combine conversation, education, and physical activity—so each person gets exactly what they need to progress without making things worse. Whether someone is recovering from injury, trying to stay active through a demanding life, or just wants to feel stronger and more confident in their body, I’m here to support that journey in a safe, honest, and even fun way.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just follow trends or teach from theory—I’ve lived this. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve turned personal challenges into a system that helps others move, feel, and live better. My work isn’t about pushing people—it’s about guiding them back to themselves, with tools that actually work in real life.
If there’s one thing I want people to take away from my work, it’s this:
You can learn a lot from someone who’s moved through different cultures, systems, and setbacks. My journey isn’t just about me—it’s a lens that helps others see new possibilities for their own growth, healing, and performance.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Early in my journey, I got injured multiple times and kept getting referred to programs and professionals that didn’t truly help me. I reached a point where I felt like my body had betrayed me—but in reality, the system I was relying on just didn’t see me as an individual.
So I committed to learning how to recover myself. I studied movement from different angles—fitness, martial arts, yoga, military training, and even skateboarding. I didn’t just want to feel better—I wanted to understand why things broke down, and how to rebuild with purpose.
That process took years, and I had to be my own test subject. But that resilience helped me become a better coach—and now I guide others through similar challenges with tools I know work, because I’ve lived them.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the idea that working harder always leads to better results. In sports and the military, you’re rewarded for pushing through pain, discomfort, and burnout. But that mindset caused me more damage than progress.
Eventually, I realized that true strength is about awareness, not just effort. I started focusing on listening to my body instead of forcing it. I stopped chasing intensity and started prioritizing recovery, breath, structure, and intention.
That shift helped me evolve from just “doing more” to doing what’s right—and that’s something I bring into every coaching session today, especially with high-performing clients who are constantly on the edge of burnout.
