We were lucky to catch up with Gail Gensler recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gail, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
The defining moment in launching my second career as a pro-aging lifestyle model was in 2019 when I saw commercials on TV for “over 55 communities “here in South Florida. All the people depicted were my contemporaries living a very different lifestyle from mine. The activities they were doing included golf, doubles tennis. Leisurely strolls. There was no one still in beast mode boxing or doing HIIT classes. Additionally, all the commercials that included people my age were for medications because we clearly are not healthy in midlife?

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
(This is my side endeavor not my full time career. My full time career is in the automotive industry.)
I am a pro- aging lifestyle model and influencer, changing the narrative around aging through fitness and embracing a healthy lifestyle from a real woman’s perspective. Fitness has nothing to do with age! Age is a mindset, old is an attitude.
My goal is to break down institutional ageism in advertising, particularly in the fitness clothing space. In this age of inclusivity midlife women are not represented, and it’s my goal to be the midlife model who is authentically living the life representing my powerful demographic.
I am an influencer, brand ambassador, blogger, model, spokesperson, pageant contestant, partner in a clothing company and event organizer.
I have been published in many womens magazines globally and have been on the cover of Best Holistic Life and Soeleish Magazine. Details on my website.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Fitness has always been my passion and joy. I’ve been athletic my whole life. In 2008 I bought the boxing gym I was a member of only to have the recession wipe me out.
I didn’t discover my greater purpose until midlife when I started my side endeavor as a pro- aging lifestyle model and influencer.
I started in 2020, just as the pandemic did. This was intentional, as I knew the influencer space would be vacant for the time being, and that people would be on social media more as we were all not able to have personal experiences. I created a name for myself in the midlife space .
Sadly at the end of 2021 my Instagram that I had worked so hard for (5 k from 0) was hacked and held ransom for money, so 2022 saw the launch of my new account. This did however give me the mental break to gain clarity on what my real goal was. I’ve enjoyed being a blogger and podcast guest, being published, organizing fitness events for my community where I live, and representing a few brands that are aligned with who I am, but my real goal was crystallized in my mind and that’s my focus now. To be the authentic midlife model for fitness clothing in advertising.

Can you talk to us about your experience with buying businesses?
In 2008 I bought the boxing gym I was a member of . It was meant to be my exit strategy out of the car business and into something I truly had a lifelong passion for – fitness. Unfortunately the owner was not truthful and the expenses were far greater than what he showed on the books
All of those obstacles became meaningless however, because the recession of 2008 hit and the first thing people give up in financially difficult times is their gym membership. I held on until 2009 but lost so much money that I had to close
