We were lucky to catch up with GAIL ALEXANDER recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi GAIL, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

During a family gathering l mention to my Family that l needed to come up with a name for my business. We had a discussion and it was mentioned that every cup of coffee mixed was blended perfectly. That’s when “Gail’s Perfect Cup” became the name of my small home-based business.

GAIL, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Gail Alexander, l am 64 years old. I graduated from Alabama State University in 1980. I’ve been retired for 9 years after working with the State of Alabama for 28+ years. Since retirement l have been seriously working my home based business, Gail’s Perfect Cup!

I got into my business after creating a instant coffee mix when l was married. I would prepare my husband’s morning cup of coffee before he left for work, which consisted of instant coffee, cream and sugar. Later my husband who worked as a civilian and was also Army Reserve was later called to active duty for 18 months in Ft. Dix, New Jersey. He found himself missing his morning cup of coffee that l mixed for him before work. I then begin to ponder how l was going to provide him with his same perfect cup of morning java. So l mixed the same amount of coffee for a individual cup. I then had to figure out the exact amount of hot water he would need to add to the mix and get the same satisfying taste. I put the mix in individual zip lock bags to make single cups of coffee and shipped to him in a carepackage with instructions. This was his response: ” Your coffee is the same wonderful experience that was unmatched by any other. The experience was so powerful and pleasant l closed my eyes and felt like l was home, The smooth warm and delicious taste was like having a liquid vacation without ever leaving my chair. The coffee beverage you made was unlike any other l have ever tasted.”

I didn’t know at that time l had created what later would become, Gail’s Perfect Cup! I continued to mix what became my, regular roasted coffee blend for family, friends, and co-workers. I became passionate about the mix I had created and started mixing up other flavors.

I have to give a shout out to one of my dear friends, Pam- Stephen’s Williams, she was very instrumental in getting me to start my own business..

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

The best source of new customers for me has been networking with other vendors, offering discounts, referrals from existing customers, and offering free samples of my products.
