We recently connected with GAGE and have shared our conversation below.
GAGE, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew i wanted to pursue a artist career when i first saw Michael Jackson perform The way he just stood on stage before he performed just standing there and the crowd going wild thats something that intrigued me alot. Just having that power to make people feel that way due to your music was something i knew i wanted to do
GAGE, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been doing all my life but decided to pursue it professionally in 2002. I sell my music via streaming services and i also sell merch vi my website heatrockclothing.dizzyjam.com. What sets me apart from other hip-hop artists i i do not curse in my music. This is something rare in the hip-hop field as most artist usually do in their music so i think that something major that sets me apart because i am doing what nobody else is doing Im most proud of getting 100k streams for my latest project without dropping any visuals its a testament to showing that you can still make good music and win. The main thing i want fans to know or take away from my music is that i made music they would resonate with and use as a guide if they heard something i said in music that could help them navigate them through i similar situation they made be facing.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me the most rewarding aspect is making the music and performing it. Also knowing you created something out of thin air the other can relate to or resonate with is something that i love and also being able to use music as a creative outlet for myself i have a song where i say “music is my therapy” so unlike other who may have to see a therapist about issues they may be having i can just make a song to get those issues out and is doing so brings me peace and joy.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
well in the music business you have to have alot of resilience or you wont make it. You going to hear a million No’s or not get the interviews you think your supposed to get from certain publications or get on certain playlists you feel you should be on going through that can really kill a persons confidence so the key is to do it for the love first that way when you do face these adversities you can push through and keep going. I always say people in this era do not listen to music based on the music they listen based on the celebrity of that person this could also discourage alot of up and coming artist because they may not get the love someone who is less talented may get so you just have to be resilient in your pursuit of your goal
