We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gabrielle Kelsch a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Gabrielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission extends beyond the artistry of knitting; it’s a heartfelt commitment to warmth, comfort, and making a positive impact.
In a world that often moves too fast, I found solace in the timeless craft of knitting. The rhythmic dance of needles and yarn is not just a means to create beautiful, cozy pieces; it’s a form of therapy, a connection to tradition, and a way to slow down and savor the moments.
My mission is deeply rooted in the belief that everyone deserves to experience the genuine warmth of a hand-knit item. I’ve set out to create more than just garments; I’m crafting moments of comfort and joy that last a lifetime. Each piece is a labor of love, a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into every knit.
But my mission goes beyond the stitches. I am driven by a commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. We source our materials responsibly, ensuring that every fiber tells a story of care for both the environment and the hands that tend to it. The ultimate goal would be to expand to more mothers; skilled artisans that will be an integral part of our creative family. When choosing Cozy Woolen Co, you’re not just embracing quality; you’re supporting a vision of conscious creation.
My mission is meaningful because it’s a reflection of my values, experiences, and the desire to share the warmth I’ve found in the craft of knitting. It’s about building connections, cherishing traditions, and making a positive impact, one cozy creation at a time.

Gabrielle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m Gabrielle Kelsch. Creator and owner of Cozy Woolen Co. The journey into the world of knitting began for me in the comforting embrace of my grandma’s cozy living room. As a child, I was drawn to the idea of creating something beautiful out of something seemingly not. My grandma took it upon herself to impart her decades of expertise to my sisters and me. She started with the basics, guiding our fingers through the initial loops and stitches. Crocheting with Grandma wasn’t just about learning a craft; it was a journey into her history and creativity. She is no longer with us but she continues to be a blessing in my life. What began as a passion for crocheting blossomed into a newfound appreciation for the intricate artistry of knitting, guided by a desire to offer customers a broader spectrum of handmade creations. Customers grew more and more interested and I embraced both crochet and knitting into the business.
My company offers various custom hand-crafted crochet and knit items such as; adorable beanies in a palette of vibrant hues, each one adorned with irresistibly fluffy pom-poms. exquisitely warm scarves and head-turning cable-knit headbands. For those wanting to be extra cute and matching, I provide exclusive sets, including the delightful “Mommy and Me” beanies, chic beanie and mitten ensembles, and the sweetest of cozy pairings – baby beanie and bootie sets.
At Cozy, I offer an experience of warmth, style, and thoughtful craftsmanship. I take pride in delivering exceptional quality that not only looks stunning but stands the test of time. Whether it’s a chunky scarf, a warm beanie, or a soft set of mittens my pieces are designed to wrap you in a cocoon of comfort, making every moment delightful. Custom orders are always available as well and you can select from a range of colors, patterns, and accessories. Making a unique custom item for a client’s special someone is always rewarding and a great way to show someone how much you care.
I am most proud of being able to be a work-at-home mother and contribute financially. I am dedicated to my dream of what Cozy Woolen Co may someday become. This dream centers around the vision of creating meaningful knitwear jobs for moms, transforming not just livelihoods but the very fabric of families and communities. It’s a dream that transcends the confines of traditional employment, offering a path where creativity, motherhood, and career aspirations intertwine seamlessly.

How did you build your audience on social media?
In my experience, presence has been the biggest role in getting and maintaining followers. That doesn’t mean just posting and coming away from the page, but instead staying on to reply to comments, answer messages, and interact with others in your niche. Consistency in posting is key, otherwise, you won’t show up in the algorithm. Let people know who you are and what you do, keep it simple. Different platforms cater to different demographics and interests, so focus your efforts where they will make the most impact. Contests and giveaways will also help to bring your page front and center and build some excitement around your brand.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
“The Greatest Salesman in the World” by Og Mandino was a great first look at what it takes to be entrepreneurial. It applies not only to business success but success in your relationships, goals, and ultimately mastery of self. The theme is to do everything with love and I still refer to it often as it always applies.
Another good one is “The Jackrabbit Factor” by Leslie Householder. The goal of this book is to overcome fear and adversary with the power of your own mind. By using the power of positivity and perseverance you can make your dreams a reality. Very empowering read.
“Think and Grow Rich” By Napolean Hill and “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz will cover these themes as well. Great resources to read and reread when you are in need of a boost in consistency and determined patience.
