We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gabrielle Garofalo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gabrielle below.
Gabrielle , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Risk is built into my DNA. I’ve always been open to experiencing and learning new things which helps build risk taking mentality and behavior.
Whether learning to ski at 15 or doing triathlons at 44, I am willing to try things I’ve never done before. That same attitude works in how I approach my multi-faceted and successful career path.
I started in advertising; pivoted to mainstream print media; then into events; from there to freelance and solopreneurship. From there hired back into corporate where I ran a global team of digital creators when I hadn’t spent a day in digital media before that role…
I always trust I will figure it out; attract the right support to do so and that I know failure will be part of the process.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Gabrielle Garofalo is the creator of The Pause for Pleasure Process; a series of practices that help over-stressed professionals tap into pleasure and joy as the antidote for the modern-day challenges of burnout, boredom, and living in a world on fire. Gabrielle has more than 25 years of expertise in advertising, branding, media, events, and personal development and in 2018, she shifted gears, delving into coaching and seamlessly integrating various modalities including body positivity, yoga nidra, meditation, and emotional intelligence. Inspired by Abraham Hicks, Gabby Bernstein, and others, Gabrielle’s coaching centers on pleasure as a powerful catalyst for personal transformation.
I’ve now directed most of my energy to supporting clients through one-on-one coaching; curated retreats and experiences as well as preparing to launch my virtual Pause for Pleasure Collective in March. I also host freebies regularly on IG and will be venturing to do the same on LI in February.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Wow! Love this question. I think it’s crucial to unlearn all the messages, systems and rules that are misaligned with your most authentic self.
I challenge everything – especially systems that are intent on exclusion; othering and oppression; which is most of what we see around the world – antiquated; oppressive systems. However I can feel the shift and am excited to be a part of it.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
The most important aspects of achieving success include:
– the willingness and knowledge failure is part of success.
– seeking trusted mentors and accountability partners to support your journey
– staying curious; committed to learning and personal development.
