We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gabrielle Crevecoeur a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Gabrielle, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
So, I am NoWaySheCodes because when I first became a software engineer in tech, there was always this shock, gasp, or “NO WAY” moment tied to my career. Whether it was because I’m a woman in a male-dominated field or, more often, because I’m a Black woman breaking into spaces where representation is so limited, that disbelief became a recurring theme. But instead of letting it discourage me, I decided to wear it as a badge of honor. The name is both a playful nod to those moments of doubt and a reminder of my journey breaking through stereotypes and shattering the glass ceilings people often impose on you.
While my brand has grown beyond just coding the name remains a powerful symbol of resilience, empowerment, and unapologetically owning your space. It’s a celebration of embracing the “No Way” moments and proving, time and time again, that YES, I can.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Gabrielle Crevecoeur, a product manager in tech by day and the founder of a creative agency by passion. My journey into the tech and creative industries started with a determination to break barriers. As a Black woman entering the world of software engineering, I was often met with surprise and disbelief, which inspired the name of my brand, NoWaySheCodes. It’s a nod to defying expectations and proving that I not only belong but excel in spaces where representation is often lacking.
Over the years, I’ve transitioned from coding to product management, where I lead major projects and develop innovative solutions in the tech space. Alongside my corporate career, I run a creative agency specializing in web development, branding, and technology consulting. We help entrepreneurs, small businesses, and professionals create impactful digital presences through tailored websites, branding packages, and tech-forward solutions.
What truly drives me is finding opportunities to teach and inspire others, especially youth in marginalized communities. Growing up, I didn’t even know that what I do was possible. I never met anyone with my profession, and I’ve made it a personal mission to show others that these career paths are achievable. Through workshops and social media content, I teach others how to code, navigate the tech industry, and build confidence in their abilities.
My social media brand aligns perfectly with this mission. Through NoWaySheCodes, I share insights into my career journey, offer tips for breaking into tech, and highlight the importance of work-life balance, all while showcasing my personal style and individuality. My content empowers women, especially Black women, to embrace their ambitions and live authentically—whether that’s thriving in their careers, exploring creative pursuits, or navigating life’s challenges.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend technical expertise with creativity and my genuine passion for lifting others up. I’m proud of the connections I’ve built with diverse audiences, whether it’s through inspiring social media content, meaningful collaborations with brands, or delivering impactful digital solutions for my clients.
Above all, I want people to know that my work—both in tech and through my creative agency—is rooted in authenticity, passion, and the belief that we’re all capable of creating the life we want. If I can inspire someone to take a leap into tech, entrepreneurship, or self-discovery, I know I’ve made a difference.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media has been a journey, and it’s still growing every day. For me, the key was always rooted in understanding my “WHO,” “WHY,” and “WHAT.” These questions have been my guide to creating content that resonates with the right people.
WHO am I making content for? I focus on women, especially Black women, navigating their careers and embracing their full selves. Whether it’s through career tips, lifestyle content, or relatable moments, I want my audience to see themselves in me and feel inspired, informed, or simply understood.
WHY is this content helpful, relatable, or entertaining? I strive to share content that adds value—whether that’s teaching someone how to ace a job interview, sharing how I balance my career and life, or simply making them laugh with a relatable moment. Social media is about creating moments that stick with people, and I always ask myself what my audience can take away from each post.
WHAT content does my audience want to see? This has been about trial and error, but also listening closely to what my audience engages with most. Over time, I’ve leaned into creating content that aligns with their interests, like tech career advice, product management insights, lifestyle tips, and even fashion inspiration. The goal is to create a blend that feels authentic to me but also keeps them coming back for more.
For anyone just starting to build their social media presence, my biggest advice is:
Know your audience and your message. Growth takes time, and showing up regularly with quality content builds trust and engagement. Answer those same questions above to understand the content you want to put out there
Ultimately, building an audience isn’t just about numbers—it’s about connection. I’m proud of the community I’m cultivating and excited to keep creating content that inspires, entertains, and empowers. My advice? Stay true to yourself, stay patient, and keep your audience at the heart of everything you do.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has undoubtedly been word of mouth. When you deliver quality work and exceed expectations, people naturally take notice and share their experiences with others. Whether it’s through a satisfied client referring me to someone in their network or someone coming across my work on social media and recommending me, word of mouth has been invaluable.
I truly believe that when you put your all into your craft—whether that’s building a website, consulting on a product, or creating engaging content—it shows. People appreciate great work, and they’ll talk about it. That ripple effect has brought me some amazing opportunities and connections that I might not have found otherwise. It’s a reminder that your reputation is one of your strongest tools for growth, and maintaining that integrity in your work is everything.
