We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gabrielle Clay. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gabrielle below.
Gabrielle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
One of the defining aspects of Studio 14 by Gabrielle is our commitment to crafting an entirely bespoke experience for each client. While the photography industry often leans into standardized packages and rapid turnaround times, I diverge by focusing on a deeply personalized, luxury experience that begins long before the camera clicks.
Every session starts with an unlimited consultation where I help clients uncover their vision—whether through personal shopping trips, closet explorations, or crafting customized set designs. My studio offers not only state-of-the-art equipment but also an environment designed to feel like home, complete with cozy furniture, a personalized makeup station, and versatile set areas tailored to the client’s style. By combining artistry and comfort, I ensure clients feel empowered, confident, and celebrated throughout the process.
One unforgettable session was for a second-time mother who wanted an edgy, high-fashion-inspired maternity shoot. She arrived with her husband and young daughter, and together, we curated a wardrobe that showcased her bold personality—think sleek silhouettes, statement jewelry, and a black fringe leather jacket that stole the show. The studio was styled to amplify her vision, with dramatic lighting, minimalist backdrops, and a modern, editorial vibe.
We captured stunning solo portraits of her exuding confidence and strength, along with playful family moments that highlighted their excitement as they prepared for baby number two. The final images looked like something out of a high-end fashion magazine, and the mother shared how they perfectly reflected her personality and this special moment in her family’s journey.
This level of care also extends beyond the shoot. I offer expert guidance in turning digital memories into tangible heirlooms, from custom wall art and framing to professional installation. My goal is to create something timeless that becomes part of their story and their home.
In an industry that often prioritizes volume, my focus on quality, connection, and customization sets me apart. This approach matters because it transforms photography from a service into an experience—and a memory that clients cherish for years.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Gabrielle, the heart behind Studio 14, where photography meets art and storytelling. My journey into this industry began with a lifelong passion for capturing moments. From a young age, I was fascinated by the way a single image could convey emotion, preserve memories, and tell a story without words. Over the years, that fascination grew into a career as I honed my craft, earned international portrait photography awards, and built a studio that reflects my love for creating timeless, meaningful art.
Studio 14 specializes in luxury photography experiences—sessions that are tailored to each client’s personality, style, and vision. Whether it’s a family portrait, a senior session, maternity photos, headshots, or a full-scale celebrity-inspired shoot, my goal is to make every client feel celebrated. We offer everything from personal shopping assistance and wardrobe styling to custom set design, ensuring that each session is as unique as the people in front of my camera.
What sets Studio 14 apart is our all-inclusive approach. We’re not just here to take photos; we create an experience. Every detail is considered, from consultations to the reveal of beautifully edited images. We also turn digital memories into tangible heirlooms—custom wall art, elegant framing, and professional installation are all part of what we provide. My husband, Kevin, brings his gallery expertise to the team, helping clients design and display their portraits with care and precision.
The problems I solve for my clients go beyond photography. For many, the challenge is finding a way to preserve their stories in a way that feels authentic and timeless. Others are looking for guidance on how to style themselves or their families to look and feel their best. Some want to break away from the rushed, impersonal approach of traditional photography. I meet all these needs by offering a customized experience where they feel seen, valued, and confident.
One example that truly moved me was a family reunion I recently photographed. It was a rare moment for 15 family members to all be in the same place at the same time. They traveled from across the country for the chance to reconnect and celebrate their bond. The day was filled with laughter, playful banter, and joy as they embraced the time together. I was honored to capture those fleeting moments—parents and grandparents smiling at their kids, siblings reminiscing, and cousins playing together. The portraits became more than photos; they’re now a cherished reminder of a moment that might not happen again for years.
What I’m most proud of is the connection I create with my clients. I’ve had people walk into my studio nervous about being photographed and leave feeling like supermodels. Watching my clients light up when they see the final images is what drives me—it’s about giving them more than a photo, but an experience and a legacy.
For anyone considering working with Studio 14, I want you to know that you’re not just booking a photography session. You’re investing in an experience tailored to your vision, values, and dreams. My studio is a space where your stories come to life, where your moments are treated like art, and where your memories are preserved for generations.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience has been the foundation of my life and career. I am a survivor of domestic violence, and I’ve faced some incredibly challenging times financially. I became crippled by anxiety and fear. There were moments when it felt impossible to see a way forward, but I refused to let those circumstances define me or my future. Instead, I focused on rebuilding my life, not just for myself but for my young son, and all those who believed in me and supported me along the way.
Starting over wasn’t easy, but it taught me to be resourceful, determined, and creative. Despite the odds, I built not just one, but three thriving businesses, including Studio 14, where I pour my heart into creating meaningful photography experiences for my clients. I’ve also launched an environmental and safety consulting business and a property management venture, each of which has grown into something I’m deeply proud of.
There was a time when simply making it through the day felt like a victory. Today, I look at everything I’ve created—the businesses, the relationships, the opportunities—and I know that resilience made it all possible. Every step of the journey has taught me to embrace challenges, to grow from them, and to use those experiences to build something lasting.
For me, resilience is about showing up, even when it’s hard. It’s about refusing to let the past dictate your future and finding strength in every small win along the way. My businesses are a testament to that strength, and I hope my story shows others that no matter how tough things get, it’s always possible to rise, rebuild, and thrive.

How’d you meet your business partner?
The story of how I met my business partner and husband, Kevin, is one of life’s most unexpected and wonderful twists. We first met in high school and shared a special connection as friends. After graduation, life took us in different directions, and we lost touch for nearly 30 years. Then, out of the blue, Kevin reached out to me, and it was as if no time had passed. We picked up right where we left off, and before long, that old friendship blossomed into something even deeper. Today, we’re not only married but also best friends and partners in life and work.
Kevin is instrumental in all of our businesses. At Studio 14, he brings his years of gallery experience to help clients design and install custom wall art, ensuring their portraits are displayed perfectly in their homes. In our environmental and safety consulting business, Kevin’s expertise as a safety professional is invaluable. His knowledge and passion for creating safe and efficient work environments have been a cornerstone of our success in helping clients build stronger, more sustainable operations.
Beyond that, Kevin shares my dedication to building community. Together, we manage property ownership projects that focus on fostering connection and opportunity in the places we call home. His thoughtful approach and passion for helping others shine through in everything he does, and it’s been amazing to watch him bring his skills and heart to so many facets of our work.
Working and living together is a joy because we share the same vision and values. We complement each other’s strengths and bring out the best in one another, whether we’re brainstorming for a new project, helping clients, or simply enjoying life’s quiet moments together.
Our journey is proof that life can surprise you in the best ways. Reconnecting after so many years brought not only love back into my life but also a trusted partner who has been key to the growth of all our businesses. Kevin’s expertise, kindness, and drive make him the perfect partner in every sense of the word.
