We were lucky to catch up with Gabrielle Campbell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gabrielle , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
The Divine Vegan social media pages are all managed by me! I actually went to Arizona State University for a B.S in Business Marketing- so managing the socials is very fun for me. I am constantly inspired by all of the beautiful content out there and creating my own gives me a sense of control and a creative outlet!
Gabrielle , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The Divine Vegan started from an old instagram account that I had repurposed a couple times from fleeting hobbies. Baking luckily stuck, and I am so grateful that I am able to spread love and joy through my own creations. Edible art allows me to be creative while also making a product that can be consumed. I love to be a part of celebrations and special occasions- and luckily, every day is someone’s birthday!
The Divine Vegan provides the best vegan desserts in the Phoenix Valley, you can literally taste the love in each bite. The quality of ingredients used is so crucial to the final product and I truly believe that is reflected in the taste. I love to bake and I genuinely enjoy creating each and every order! From measuring out the ingredients to packing up each order, each step of the process feels like a language of love.
My goal is to spread love through food, and I want everyone to be able to participate! When the desserts are vegan and nut free, almost anyone is able to enjoy. For those that can’t digest wheat- you can still be included too. Gluten free items are available upon request for custom orders and I typically bring a gluten free dessert to most of my pop up events.
I started my bakery in October of 2020. Quarantine baking experiments had transitioned into several of my friends suggesting that I sell my pumpkin bread loaves… They are mind boggling- beyond tasty! I sold 111 loaves in my first month through instagram and word of mouth- then eventually expanded my menu, got licensed and permits, and The Divine Vegan was born. I really had no intentions of starting a business when I began selling the pumpkin loaves, but the timing was so divine that everything just made sense. My brand is so me and I love that I get to share one of my favorite parts of myself with the world. I hope that everyone can try The Divine Vegan one day- these desserts will change your perspective on baking and on life. Just because something has always been done one way before, doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for innovation and improvement!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Doing pop up events and showing my face! People love to see who is behind the scenes and asking questions about the desserts, my business and myself! I love being in person because I don’t have to sell my product; they sell themselves! You can physically see them, you can see other people buying and desiring them, and that attracts more new clients! People try Divine once, and they always come back!
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I don’t manage a team as I run The Divine Vegan alone, but as someone who has been managed, I believe it’s so important to get to know each team member! Find out who they are and how they operate, their strengths, and weaknesses, and treat them accordingly. Everyone has different learning and working styles and should be maximizing and focusing on their strengths. I believe that if everyone was able to focus on their passions, strengths and worked on improving them, society could be much for efficient and innovative.
