Gabriella Rose, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Every face is a canvas and has a story. My future lines will be lines like no others. Affordable yet intimate. A line where someone doesn’t have to worry about oxidizing products, incorrect undertones, heavy or cake product that doesn’t last and more. Your “paint” should feel natural and light on your canvas not only to add to the beauty already present, but also to feel as light as air. Based in New York City, I have extensive experience with New York City Fashion Week, weddings, photoshoots, video shoots, and editorials. My work has been featured in publications like Vogue, Harper’s, Elle, MTV, and the CFDA Runway 360 Website. Please find my portfolio linked below. Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I would say a big lesson I learned overtime is that sometimes your biggest supporters are complete strangers over ‘friends’. ‘Friends’ come to you when they see you doing well but you don’t hear from them during the journey throughout. My biggest lesson I had to realize and accept was that not everyone is your friend or supporter even if they are close by. Who is sharing your posts? Who is spreading positivity and word about your business to others? Study, and observe.
A lesson I had to unlearn is about product. When I first started, I was told by many that the best product is the most expensive product. Unfortunately that not only goes for makeup product, but many products in a variety of companies that I am sure many of you are familiar with, without mentioning any names. Whilst I love name brand things… you can find ‘dupes’ of items who qualify as well. Not everybody can always afford an expensive name brand kit and sometimes when you go with the cheaper items, the quality could be even better. I focus on the ingredients in the makeup products rather than name. What skin type does my client have and what is her desired look? What products can I use to prepare her/his/their skin for this makeup application and which products will I use to set everything to last? I have saved so much money during my journey using brands that I believe in. I typically go for brands that not only create an amazing and smooth base but also contain ingredients that benefit the skin. There are also amazing brands that spend a percentage of their income to amazing organizations to help support Human Rights and/or important events. I love to support as much as I can with products I believe in.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Going out there to meet new people face to face, building a small rapport, getting personal! That’s what people love. They love relating. They love when someone is genuine and they love when someone actually cares, not just making a sale. People love human interaction, not an ad they scroll by in less than few quick seconds.
