We recently connected with Gabriella Carias and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabriella, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It’s a few things that takes into play of being successful. Two of the biggest things are God and consistency. For me, I always come up with a plan and pray over it before I do anything else. I look at my start goal and my end goal and think about what can I do along the way to achieve my end goal.
I developed my view of what it takes to become successful along my journey of entrepreneurship. I realize that it’s important to keep your brand in front of people’s eyes. Keep your name in their face. Don’t let nobody forget about you. It lets people know that you’re serious about your work. It’s very important to stay firm on your business.
I noticed the more work I put in, the better results I got. The more consistent I was, the better the outcome was. Being business minded, and being open-minded to criticism also plays a part.. I always place myself in my customers shoes saying “what would i feel or how would i feel?”. It’s very important to have proper business etiquette.
Gabriella, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Gabriella Carias. Everyone calls me Gabby. Since I was a little girl, I was always girly, I love clothes to play dress up, I was into hair, into jewelry, my nails, make up, you name it. When I was younger, I even used to tell my mom how to comb my hair and I used to love to get my hair combed. It was no surprise to my parents when I told them how much I love the beauty industry. My mom and my dad have been my biggest supporters since day 1. From buying mannequin, heads and hair products to opening up their home for my clients. I did some research and when I graduated high school I decided to attend cosmetology school. I remember when I used to get out of school I used to go home and curl my friend’s and cousins hair after school in middle school and by the time I had made it to high school I had graduated to doing sewing and trying to make wigs. One of my friends cousins used to always tell me I was always all Glammed up. That’s how I came up with Glammed by Gabby. It just kind of stuck to me.
I specialize in wigs, lace, hair growth, and coloring. I also offer sewins, silk press, ponytails, styling, and much more.
As far as solving problems for my clients, I feel like I solve being self-conscious or insecure. It’s no better feeling than when my clients get up out of my chair and I see how confident they are just because they got their hair done. it’s a small gesture but it’s a big outcome.
What I think sets me apart from most is my communication skills, my kindness, my fairness, my neatness, how detailed I am, and my cleanliness.
Over the next few years my clients who support me can expect a lot from my brand as I evolve. I have big plans that I cannot speak on just yet. For now, everyone will be able to shop my hairline. My Linktree link is in my bio. You can book an appointment, buy hair or purchase products there.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
So I always wanted a hairstylist to be my career but it’s only that easy in a perfect world. I had to start from somewhere so when I first started, I had no clientele. So I had to work and do hair at the same time. One day I realized if I keep treating it like a side hustle it’s going to be a side hustle. I can’t give my all to my dreams because I’m still giving my all to somebody else’s dreams. I ended up leaving my job to take Glammed by Gabby. Seriously. I wouldn’t say I had a plan, but I was very confident in myself, and what I could do. I started to make flyers and pass them out. I started posting more on social media. I started telling people everywhere I went. I got a business phone, I had already had my website previously from high school. I started to get serious. That was one of the best things I had ever done. I have no regrets. I would bet on myself everytime. My side hustle, scaled up to be so much bigger today because of my dedication. Some of my biggest milestones would be doing celebrities hair. It’s so surreal.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media by being my true, authentic self. I’m working on opening up a little bit more meaning showing my personality a bit more. As far as building your audience, you have to think like “What do they want to see? What do they like? What can I post to make them engage?”. Post consistently once you get that down packed. Some people like to give up after they don’t see immediate results, but keep going.
