Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gabriela Gonzalez Dellosso. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gabriela, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Gabriela, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a fine artist who works in the realm of representational/realistic art. I primarily use the figure to tell stories in oil paint. I would describe myself as an artist with a classical flair and a contemporary twist. The stories I tell are intricate and layered with ideas for the viewer to investigate. I decided to pursue the fine art field because I learned that you could make a living as an illustrator in the early ’90s. I saw the work of illustrator Bill Basso and his son, who were both successful at what they did. Originally, I was pursuing psychology, but it was not my passion. I worked as an illustrator for a few years, but I realized I wanted to create my own paintings. So, illustration led me to creating my own works. Creating my own paintings and stories is my passion. This is what I offer the public.
My canvases are meant to invite the viewer to look and experience the story I tell through emotion and visual arrangements that invite discovery. I am most proud of the fact that I have stayed the course and have created a body of work that is varied and ambitious. I currently have a 60-painting retrospective at The Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Indiana. It is amazing to see what I have created over the years.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
