Hi Gabriel, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
I came up with the idea of publishing a children’s book because I’ve always been a great writer. I’ve been writing since I was young. Rather it was poems, raps or just my thoughts. I started writing a book about love and losses and kept stopping/starting I just wasn’t fully motivated to finish it, but I had my baby and I got inspired to do a children’s book dedicated to our daily life and that’s how our book “Mommy is coming!” Was born.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Gabriel Rice, I am an author of a children’s book titled “Mommy is coming!” With my daughter Milan. I got into writing at a young age and I just became greater at expressing myself along the way through writing. I’ve always wanted to be an author and decided to publish a children’s book first to experience that with my child and also get my feet wet in publishing. I am most proud about setting that goal and actually accomplishing it, I’m living in an answered prayer. I’m also proud that Milan can see herself in this book literally speaking because she is the author and main character.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me the most rewarding aspect is crossing this goal off my list of things to accomplish. Throughout this whole process I have learned a lot and on my own at that. I appreciate all the lessons and people I’ve come in contact with during that time, but writing down what you want and seeing it come to life is and will always be the most rewarding to me.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been social media and word of mouth. I have an amazing team that supports me and speak my name and mentions my book in rooms that I’m not in.
