We were lucky to catch up with Gabe Nahirny recently and have shared our conversation below.

Gabe, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)

The best investments I’ve made are into friendships with professionals who share similar interests and goals. Those relationships will always take you further than simply just having the best tools or the most experience.

Gabe, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am a drummer and an audio engineer! I was raised in a musical household within a community with 24/7 live music at a Prayer Room in Kansas City, MO. There was no lack of opportunity for playing music live, or gaining experience with live sound growing up.

I specialize in Live and Studio Drum Performance, Engineering, and Editing. As well as, Live Audio Engineering, Equipment Rentals, and Installed Sound Integration. I own a complete point-source PA system and console for small to medium-sized shows, weddings, parties, or conferences, available to rent.

I am most proud of my ability to make live shows sound great, and of course, the ways my drums sound. I love helping artists and managers make shows happen. My goal is to record more drums out of my personal studio space for artists and producers this year!

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?

At least for the music industry, I think there needs to come a reform of how much artists are being paid for their music. I think a new way of music being protected and monetized needs to be implemented.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)

I think they’re awesome, though I don’t know as much about them as I would like to. However, I am excited about the emergence of new ways of paying creatives via “Web 3.0” and through blockchain.
