Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gabe Goodson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gabe, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
I helped a couple aquire a 34 acre property that had been for sell for over 3 years (another agents listing) that wasn’t up to par as far as marketing. They purchesed the proeprty for 150k well under apraised value. They construced a tiny home established power, water, septic, and cleared out a road system. Sold the proeprty a year later for 325k and made a great profit.

Gabe, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was raided on the Coosa River just outside of Birmingham, AL. There I gained a love for the water and being outdoors hunting and fishing. I managed a few rental properties for my family for about 10 years and learned a lot about real estate and how to manage properties. I had a friend that was in land sales, and after picking his brain i decided to get my license and get into real estate from the land side. I had learned a lot about land and how to manipulate it to benefit wildlife being an outdoorsman since i was about 12. This helped me understand how to showcase properties and understand peoples wants and needs when acquiring property. Also using my skill set for having a good eye for land and being able to capture that through a lens, I have grown to list premier property for sellers through central Alabama. Working with both buyers and sellers can be difficult with land because there can be many issures, I find myself being a problem solver with transactions. Some of the problems that come up consist of clouded titles, access issues, dealing with power and water companies to establish utilities, water issues wheather its diverting water or establishing water on a tract (ponds, lakes). Every day is different and im faces with obsticles becaue there is no perfect proeprty, that being said there is usually a solution, may take some outside the box thinking to solve it.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I was in insurance for about 5 years out of college. In that time my grandfather had grown ill, and I made the decision to take a step back from insurance and be his care taker. As his health declined I had fully gotten out of insurance and was a full time care taker and managed the rental homes we had. I was able to spend so much time with him in his last days and truly find out what happiness was by spending time with family and friends. When he passed, I decided to look into other options as far as a career, that led me to land sales. There I was able to included things I value in life as far as being able to spend time outside, having the outdoors as not only an outlet but include it in everyday life, and having the flexibility to spend time with my growing family (my wife and I have two children).

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think me growing up appreciating the outdoors gives me a passion to help buyers and sellers reach their goals with land. I grew up in Shelby County where I do most of my business in and understand the area very well as far as wildlife, landscape, agriculture, livestock, and recreation opportunities. From the listing side, when I market a property I spend a lot of time on the land and learn it well to be able to showcase what it consists of and what potential it has. Im able to show a potential buyer everything they need to see to determine if its a good fit. I am very reachable for my clients, i’m very transparent and tell it like it is. I think people appreciate that fact i’m not a typical real estate agent as in i’m not a pushy sells man and work with them in a much more personal approach. I would say that in this business there are a good bit of un organic personality’s and my clients appreciate my authenticates and i’m down to earth.
