We recently connected with Gabby Nero and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Gabby thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear your thoughts about making remote work effective.
Working remote has changed my life! I am able to work for a New York based company from the comfort of my home and have a home office set up. I don’t have to deal with traffic. I get more sleep and am a much happier worker.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Gabby Nero and I am a Talent Assistant! I have worked in the film industry for almost 10 years now! I started as a actress, but found I love working behind the scenes and having more control of everything. I started working as a casting assistant on the show Queen of the South and fell in love with it! From there I worked on various projects, including writing and directing my own short films. And now I am a Talent Assistant with Sharp Entertainment. I LOVE my job. I get to work as s liaison between the cast of our shows and the business side of things. I just started working for Sharp but it has been a dream! I am also working as a Casting Director for a upcoming feature film, filming in Oklahoma.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Covid made me pivot for sure! I had no work in the film work at all. So I started working at Amazon, and I learned a lot! I worked hard and quickly became a supervisor. I also met the love of my life while working there. I used my leadership skills and work ethic and made the best of it. During this time I also lost my Grandfather, who I lived with for 20 years and was my father figure. It was the hardest time of my life. Luckily a few months later, the first casting director I ever worked with called me and offered to work with him again on a huge TV series. So I quit Amazon and got back into film work! I used the skills I had learned from Amazon and the courage to make my Grandpa proud and pivoted back to where I was meant to be.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Hard work and a great ready to learn attitude. It’s all about who you know and networking. If you work hard and have a great attitude you will be noticed and asked to do more work.
